NEED MAJOR ARMOUR HELP!
As you may or may not know, I am currently making a Kuja (FF9) cosplay for Kitacon next april. However, i am now stuck.
After completing the bottom half and the sleeves, i am now stuck at the most important thing. His armour.
I had a go, but failed miserably :/ And i dare not think about how much money i would waste if i carried on blind as such.
So, if any of you could possibly help me? I'd really appreciate it

Jake~ x

Hey there (: I'm no expert in armor and stuff (so far I've done nothing worth noting ) but there is a tutorial that could help which uses that funky craft foam stuff ^^

http://entropyhouse.com/penwiper/costumes/helmsdeep.html

It's really quite cheap to do, since I found A3 sheets of that foam for 99p each ^^ So if it went wrong, it'd be no big loss

I've done a few testers, and that rub 'n buff stuff the tutorial mentions does work for making it shine x) but if you do use this, coat the foam in a few layers of watered down PVA first, so the rub 'n buff doesn't just get absorbed by the foam D:

Hope I helped a bit, and good luck!

Thank you!!
I asked around some more and i heard that craft foam might not be what i need for kuja.
I have now worked out each bit, now i need to find a sturdy material, cheap and that is able to bend and stay in the shape i want it to...

So.... anyone know anything about what im looking for?

Is it the shoulder armour you're talking about? If that's the case craft foam should be okay. Plastazote will be a bit stiffer though.

I'm guessing that you don't have much of a budget to play with.

Craft foam is probably the cheapest option. The other, which will work better is to get hold of something like cycle helmets and cut the shape you need from them. You'll need a cutting tool to cut them but at least you won't have the worry of trying to mould the curve. This is what I did for my Sephiroth (I used baseball helmets). Its not the cheapest method, however.
