Are any of you from south east? like near london, welwyn garden city, Hatfield, or stevenage? i know like 2 people near me who like cosplay and they're in year 10

So it's be nice to have some closer people to talk to I'm completely knew to myself and somehow feel like i am advertising myself lol O.o

But seriously... with noone else to talk to near me it's kinda annoying TT So anyone? for fear of sounding like i'm on an alien planet i ask tentatively,

Have you looked into the October London Expo maybe? My first cosplay was at the May one. I just kind of bought a cheap (£50) sewing machine after years of wanting to cosplay but fearing the machines. Then figured out something fairly easy to make and did it. Totally stumped for what to do next but I suppose I have a few months. ^_^
There are sites that sell costumes though (lots on ebay other people may know which ones are good ones ) if you aren't so keen on making one.

i my expertise *cough*4 years*cough* i can give ya some pointers and stuffs. ^^ my dream is to become a costume interpretor so i like tot hink i'm fairly good and making cosplays and props too! ^^ best to start with something easy. ^^
always good to invest in a cheap sewing machine (£50 - £70) and then go for the more expensive ones when you've done one or two! ^^

I'm in the South-West unfortunately, but the internet does make distance a non-issue these days

You should definitely check out London Expo, it's packed to the gills with cosplayers so you wouldn't be alone! There's also the London Film and Comic Con in a few weeks' time, which had plenty of cosplayers at it last year, although there probably isn't enough time to make a costume for that one now.

Honestly, the best thing you can do for your first costume, depending on how much prior experience you have with sewing, is to choose something fairly simple and go with that. Investing in an inexpensive sewing machine is a good idea, too - mine is a mini-sewing machine and cost me a grand total of £35, but I've made some costumes with it that I'm really pleased with. And you can always come on here for advice if you need it

I want to go to the expo' and stuff like that, but it seems luck is against me this year... my family has gone and booked holidays during the dates they are on... Waa! and woo half an hour! my first cosplay won't be until the may one next year waaa! i suppose that gives me time to make a costume and stuff... i might go ask my textiles teacher! The majority of my school know i'm obsessed lol! Anyway nice to chat to ya

woo yay pointers! ... i just don't know where to buy the stuff i need lol. If i make costumes from scratch do i need to like buy the material or an outfit i change, when it comes to sewing i am pretty good and stuff (runs in my family XD) as we used to hand make the clothes for the babies in the family... woo i made my little sister's jumpers! lol

(i was 7 so i had some help) TBH i want my first costume to be Uzumaki Naruto, and i kind of have a base outline drawn.... it helps to have taken art for a while lol. It's just the symbols and little ninja items that perplex me lol

it's completely up to you how you make it. ^^ many people use old clothes and stuff that they cut up, i personally prefer to make mine from scratch but i have made cosplays from old clothes.
charity shops are good for that. ^^ or cheap shops like Primark or Matalan. ^^
you'd buy the fabric from fabric shops! xD look around your local shopping centre or one you can get to easily. there's usually at least one. ^^
uh...... lessee..... are you on holiday early august? xD i'm trying to think of events. ^^ I'm helping organise a charity cosplay cafe which will be held early august..... uh there's midlands expo? or...... if you're over 18 there's an International Cosplay Ball in november... ^^
there's a tab called "Events" and it gives you a list of all the different conventions. ^^

i turn 18 in November and that cosplay cafe thing sounds cool unfortunately my holidays are the last week in October and the last week of august TT
