Bad trains on Expo weekend spell disaster
As I'm sure a lot of you are aware the train over the MCM Expo weekend are terrible. And; for those who don't have cars TT_TT it is sadly impossible for us to attend either days; which absolutely sucks! On the Sunday we could make it but due to train maintenance and breakdowns (and my fear of small spaces) we can't make it on the Sunday and on the Saturday it would take us over three hours to
get to Expo. So! Sadly we can't make it which is a real downer because we've spent so much money and time and energy on our costumes and we can't take them to expo! But if anyone is around on the weekend just give us a buzz and maybe we could meet up for some fun times and photoshoots or something! Hope you all have a great time and don't get caught up like us.

Feel free to post if you're in the same position as us and want to make up your own meets! ^ ^

Bye for now

Ever heard of coaches? They're cheaper than trains.

I'm travelling all the way from Manchester, I have not been notified of any issues.

What train problems are you referencing to?
My friends and I are all training it down from Manchester on the Friday and are returning on the monday

I get a train every day for university also, the only 'issues' are minor delays I've not heard anything major?

I think DaniChan is on about the london underground trains, not sure though :/

EDIT: Is it these problems?

I think I have to take replacement buses halfway back on the Sunday evening but Friday is all clear. It's not as bad as it sounds. The first expo I went too all the underground was down on the way home and we all made it to the station o.k. :3

I think she's referring to the Underground too, because my God it's problematic for me as well ;_;

Thursday, Friday and Saturday I'm fine. Because there's hardly any works on Thursday (same for Friday) and the Jubilee and DLR are still open on Saturday so I can get there easily. IT'S THE SUNDAY, HNNNNG. I'm having to leave pretty early (possibly missing out on the masquerade if it overruns again...) to catch my coach back on the other side of London, and the shortest route is obviously down due to engineering works and so all the other routes will probably be jam packed due to the closures.

Damn you engineers! ;_;

on sunday the DLR is still open, same as the sat..... if you plan ahead on which route u take based on what routes will be closed on the day it wont take u long to get to the stations u need to get to.....

As a rule I won't travel on the tube anyway if I have prop weapons/firearms with me. I'll be taxi'ing it from Euston I think.

It's a very tough journey if you have no money for other things like coaches ect. Especially because we have to travel home each day too (no money for hotels either).

I HATE travelling to expo!! the trains mess things up, i get highly clausterophobic(sp?) and i panick on underground trains BUT this is how i get safely to expo^^

- i travel with my bf and or friends who keep me calm
- i look at every possible route to get to the excel center possible and check updates also what you can do is on the TFL webby there is a journey planner if you check that then it will include all the engineering works and give you a route to take.

once i do get to expo and out in the open after travelling on the underground for about an hour and half i feel absolutely fantastic!!.

If you do decide to look at every way possible for getting to expo and you still worry about space, i've had to ask/demmand people to give me space on a train before and they have been nice about it, or try something like traveling with a mp3 (i find this helps as music keeps me calm) ^^

i hope this helped, or at least made sense ^^'

Yah its those problems haha; and the trains keep breaking down too so it's not good when you have claustrophobia XD

The closures are always a pain but I'm pretty sure Banks open so if your using the underground take the central line to there and you can jump on the DLR all the way to Expo. takes a little longer than the ideal route but not a lot.

Oh, none of my travel plans via Underground is affected for the Friday + Sunday.

Feels good man.

But yeah, they do offer replacement buses whenever they do work on the underground.

If you're going to Custom House from one of the major railway stations, and you're travelling with friends, sometimes it is actually cheaper to go by taxi than underground.

Examples...

Euston to Custom House
Tube: £4 cash price per person
Taxi: approx £16

Victoria to Custom House
Tube: £4 cash price per person
Taxi: approx £13

I pretty much have the same problem as i normally use the jubliee line to get to canning town from west ham but its closed of for engineering so im going to go to limehouse and DLR it from there, it will take an extra 15 mins but at least it wont take me too long

I had some feeling they'll be engineering works during expo weekend - it always happens ¬¬
I have to get off at London Waterloo and from there it's gonna be a problematic but possible journey to make it to the expo (even if it is a longer route)... I agree with everyone else when they say there's more than one way to get to the same place in London. But yes, transport sucks round this time! >.<

Can anyone help confirm that my plan to London MCM Expo will work?
Okay, so I'm taking a train to London Liverpool Street, then heading west on the Central line and changing at Bank where I will then be heading east on the DLR and changing at Westferry. Finally heading east again towards Beckton and arriving at Custom House! Thanks in advance

Where are you coming from? A lot of the trains going into Liverpool Street stop at Stratford first. You could get off there and take the DLR to Custom House. It's likely you'll have to change once at Poplar but it'll be less walking overall.

@Pez I'm coming from Salisbury in Wiltshire.

Um wouldn't you get into London at Waterloo rather than Liverpool Street?

Either way I'd avoid changing at Bank if I could, the walk between DLR and Underground is REALLY LONG (and full of stairs!)

If I got off at Waterloo then I would use the Jubilee Line right? But that's closed >.< Man, I don't know what I'm doing.

Don't worry, just check your train ticket first if you have it already, it'll say where you're getting off at. If it's Waterloo, you need to take BAKERLOO LINE to Elephant & Castle, change to NORTHERN LINE to go to Bank, and then get on the DLR like you were planning to.

Sounds like a lot of changes but it should only take you half hour or so from Waterloo to ExCel!

I dont know how everyone else is getting to expo but my group on the saturday morning are coming from Euston down to bank on the northern line and that isn't planned for closure by the looks of it.
