Ok folks, I'm just new but I have some ideas.

After looking through several photos (on this site but mainly on others) I've noticed that most Saiyan armour looks cheap and floppy when worn. Not to knock the guys who made 'em, 'cos my first attempt will be naff

Any ideas on how to improve quality?

I thought of using old tyres and some kind of wooden frame. Bicycle tyres for the rims and car tyres chopped up for the segmented armour. Wood frame built over my shoulders to keep the shoulder armour perky.

I realise this would be a difficult one to do, but I'm tempted to try anyway.

i once read an armour from craft foam tutorial which said you coat it in glue, probably pva and when it dries, it hardens, giving more rigidity. another thing you could do is the same thing but with a layer of thin fabric and then more glue on top of that. whichever you do, it should give it a good amount of strength, as far as foam armour goes XD

I might give that a try.

It sounds far simpler than my idea. But then I'm full of ideas. Plus I've got a load of old tyres lying around and I dunno what else to do with em lol.

what sort of Saiyan Armour? there are a few different styles/designs

I was thinking of Vegeta's original armour, but I suppose techniques for that could be used on all the different types. Any ideas?

There's loads of foam armour tutorials about that show you how to make general armour and they could be adapted for Saiyan armour easily. Failing that, I plan at some future point to make a Vegeta costume (I so far have the boots and that's it. lol.) and my plan was to use fabric and wadding to sew it so it looked muscular. This is admittedly because I have little to no muscles and am a girl, so have to hide my chest for it.

you could go as a female Vegeta?!?

I think your referring to my Sayijin Armour as there is no other here as of yet..

The Reason it looks as you put it Cheep and floppy is because its sewn out of Lycra to fit over the Muscle suit and to keep a good fit and flexibility for movement...

For the chest plate and gold parts i used Fun Foam as a base and covered it in either Lycra or Gold PVC as needed.

Since making the amour i have found out you can heat form fun foam to make it hold to curves, you can then make it solid using pva glue and muslin cloth...

I haven't tried it out yet but im sure it will be lighter more felxable and comfortable than wood and old tyres..

I just had a look at your Vegeta, Mangachild, and it's not the photo I was thinking of. I must've seen another photo on another site, because the one I was thinking of had shoulder-pads.

As for yours, I like it. I would have tried something different with the armour, but I liked the muscle suit and the gloves!

Tickets i cant remember probably about £45 to £50 for the weekend Accom was £125 @ Opal court again probably booked out by now but could find a B&b locally and for less..

Ame is much bigger than AlCon as it has been running for much longer, and the cosplaying attendance is probably the best in the uk even better than expo so its really worth going to...

I'm tryin for Amecom. Not much chance of gettin in now, but I'll try anyway and keep my fingers crossed.

If I get Hellboy finished quickly enough I may give the Vegeta one a go too. Though knowing me, I won't get Hellboy finished until a week before.

I wasn't planning on using a muscle suit, was thinking of appearing as Vegeta as we first see him in the manga (scrawny but strong). Reckon a swimsuit would work, or a running suit? With extra leggings and arm-things sewed on?

P.s. I've never been to a Con before. This will hopefully be the first.
