I've traveled from Cambridge to expo on the train in cosplay and I'll be walking to a friends party later this month dressed as either a pokemon or Alicia from Valkyrie Profile, but I've never just wondered around in it before. It's tempting though!

I totally get that! It's always cute when a kid understands/thinks they understand cosplays. It's adorable. One time, I was on the metro on the way to Otakon with my friends (Me=America, Friend#1=Japan, Friend#2=Hungary,Friend#3=Belarus) and these, maybe eight year old kids were whispering to their mom and pointing at us. After a bit, she and the kids came up to us. The little girl asked 'Can I have a picture with America and Hungary?'. It was soooooooooo cute!! They kept taking pictures with us until we had to get off. Anyways, I wear cosplay to places all the time. I get the weird looks alot, but it's always fun to ind that one person in the whole place that says 'Omigosh! It's America and Japan!'. So, just go out in cosplay if you're comfortable with it.

Promoted the anime club at my university by wandering around campus in cosplay during the freshers fair.

You could probably get away with it at the uni campus here. Everywhere else is just a bad idea all round. I've seen people in Touhou cosplay once on the Uni campus.

I may take my Baccano cosplay out once because it would just look like I'm in 1930's clothes. Probably when going out with my Grandad because he still dresses like that.

I traveled to Leeds Thought Bubble in my Kamina cosplay, but all I did was wear the trousers and put a fleece over my body and left my cape on another chair. When I got to the station their where two other people in cosplay hanging around so I went to join them and within an hour their where at least 40 cosplayers hanging around Leeds train station. Their where a lot of stairs by passing commuters, but one old lady had the confidence to come up and politely ask what we where doing, she made me laugh thou when she asked if I was meant to be dressed as the devil which made me laugh, don't blame her after seeing the burning skull I had painted on the back of my cape.

you saw a Touhou on the campus? thats awesome...I only go to my local park for pictures in cosplay and thats rare for me ^_^

Everyone in the anime society went to the local pub dressed as pokemon characters last week. It was awesome.
Walking to the pub with a bright blue wig got a lot of odd looks~

Yep. They were pretty cute too :3. There are only 2 parks in the town centre. You are brave to cosplay in either. I salute you.

I normally use Albert Park if you know it ^_^ its not so bad...^_^ its quite big so your normally left alone

Yeah I know Albert Park well. I shot part of my film in University there and used to walk the dog there when I was a kid.

I guess the success of the last con has proved you can cosplay in town and be ok.

yeah Nemacon was great...but when I was walking through town in my Rinoa dress I did get some stares but that was it...its not been too bad for me at the moment...but yeah the park has some potential for some lovely shots ^_^

Meh, I go out in cosplay to events now and again. The worst experience I've ever had was probably whenI got to laugh at some chavettes that were having a go at me and my friends, we weren't even in cosplay, we just werent dressed like chavs. They threw money at us (no, seriously) and then got escorted out of Meadowhall by the security guards. We just made fun of them really.

I am iffy about cosplaying in public esp in places where I have't bee before (streets , tow cetres etc)

Tho just having a funky wig on can be quite amusing for u and others around u. I love taking my Franky wig out and about when I go to London. You might be suprised with what feedback you get.

Me and my friends go out in cosplay to have cosplay meets but I don't wear more outrageous cosplays, I just wear casual versions of characters or cosplays which blend in as normal clothes. (For example, Ness from Earthbound which I plan to wear to the next meet)

I wa travelling to NemaCon in my red chinese dress and got loads of stares.

Nowadays, before the second one, i go to the Cosplay Group Nemaclub (anyone can come hang ) thats onthe green outside where nemacon was, I walk around in my Team Magma cosplay ^_^

tee hee hee lol.yeah i went out in cosplay this weekend as misa.It was sooo funny parading round town as her , my friend thought i looked cute but i dident get any strange looks coz me and misa dress quite similar - that was till i decided to draw on kitty whiskers - what!! - yeah chavs eat your heart out -pmsl- hugs

I'm a nanny so I've been out in Disney-wear a fair few times. I've had chavs that say stuff like "omg that's so fkin cute!" which is annoying because I have children with me who don't need to hear that.

The only negative thing I've ever heard was when I was on the bus dressed as Alice in Wonderland and some chavs (again) said loudly "someone call the fashion police!" That was about five years ago now.

And how is it in their place to say that? Chavs have like the worst fashion sense ever. Not like they can exactly afford the REAL burberry products either :I

I went out in my organisation xiii jacket one day and ended up scaring an old guy by accident. He kept looking behind him and speeding up. It took me a minute to realise why. ^^ The other time I was in casual Rokudo cosplay as I was trying to get used to the contact lens when we went to KFC. The woman kept staring until she asked about it. Oddly enough we got freshly cooked food :3

I went out as Sephiroth once (actually, I think it was to an expo or something) and my wing got ripped off and stolen. ;w;

Bad, Doing Ouran High group in Manchester (I was Mori) some chav said something to me in passing, reallllly wanted to punch him....but that would have messed up our day XD.
Another time We had a suit up day with our Pandora Hearts groups again in manc, it went pretty well, until later on when u had stupid drunkards asking to try wigs on or to join in a photo shoot.....or randomly mooning us (If I remember correctly XD)

Good, My Jubei from Ninja scroll at midlands expo, I seemed to be the only one in cosplay in the shopping area lol...I got weird looks, Also went in their with my full Albert Wesker from Resi 1....secuirty gave me such looks but I only needed the cash machine XD.

And last time I was doing Gilbert Nightray art booker variant (PH again)Randomly met ppl from the expo inside but then kept getting stopped by ppl, some chavs with stupid comments, but one thing made me laugh, I asked at the info desk for some help and the woman said 'OH! U didnt have to dress up for me!' That made me laugh so much XD

But At meets and cons its usually been taken well, theres always chavs who will take the piss out of anyone they see as being differnt, or hell even wearing last yrs football t-shirt etc, they really dont need much excuse to be stupid XD

I've gone out in a casual Princess Mononoke cosplay around London before - people noticed the face paint more than anything else but no-one seemed too bothered.

It was pretty anticlimatic

but it tends to be. greater distance from house more abnormal the outfit. so taking a nurse variant of beyond birthday when i take a trip to meet long distance friends.

i once took a neko outfit to lazer quest. i would recomend doing this to all. my ears and tail glowed in UV light.
