Characters with kimonos?
Well, the project that i'm going to be doing for my textiles gcse has to involve making a kimono. I was thinking, instead of making a kimono i probably won't wear why not make it a cosplay? But i just can't think of any characters with kimonos. Any help? Simple designs preferred as i don't want to make it too elaborate.

Most samurai based mangas have characters wearing kimonos.

Rurouni Kenshin is good example.

Take a look at CLAMP's stuff. There's usually one Kimono in there somewhere each of their manga's XD but in particular: xxxHolic is a good one to look at.

Yeah Rurouni Kenshin has many a kimono! InuYasha has quite a few, I know alot of character artwork done for magazines and posters sometimes have anime characters in kimonos, I know Gundam SEED and Bleach have done this ^^
For example:

Minitokyo.net is awesome for hard to find art and stuff from magazines It's a good place to hunt for ref pics too :3

There's a game called X Edge, it's got a few of the Darkstalkers girls in kimono (Morrigan, Lilith and Felicia specifically, not sure if there are any others). And then there are the Omatsurishi versions of Yuna, Rikku and Paine from Final Fantasy X.

Fuu from Samurai Champloo.

Saya from Black Cat.

Undoubtedly there are more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head!

The main character Aoi from "Ao Yori Aoshi" wears a kimono all the time

and there are some characters from the Dynasty/Samurai warriors who wear kimonos, although the detail is very elaborate on those

Mmm it depends whether you'd want to make a more traditional kimono or the more contemporary variations..
I can only think of the more modern inspired ones atm. I'm not sure if these suggestions are any good but maybe Yuna from FF10? or Setsuka from Soul Calibur? Ai Enma from Hell Girl? Kyoko (ep 6+7) from Skip beat? Saya from Black cat?
And I know this is not cosplay, but you could perhaps delve into Wa lolita fashion for more modern designs if you wish? X
