*flop* Dammit.

I've got the two weeks after that off work. I doubt I could wrangle the Thursday/Friday off.

Damn. =___=
Will have to look out for it next year.

RachelMei, Angelphie, Ashechan, Orihime and myself are going . I don't know how it happened, but this will be my 4th one despite not speaking any French v___v; I am ashamed.

They always get REALLY awesome guests and you can go to signings for FREE :O

Last year 85,000 people went, I wonder how many it'll be this year.

Anytime We're staying at a hotel inbetween the Expo and the airport. Previously I've always stayed in the city centre (as the jrock concerts that followed in the evening from the Expo were located next door to the Moulin Rouge XD) but I don't think we plan to spend much/any time in the city this time.

The Parc des Expositions where the event is held is on the RER overground train network on the blue B line (you catch the train headed for Charles de Gaulle airport) so it's easy to get to from the centre of Paris.

There are always *loads* of people catching the same train as you as the event attracts thousands of people every day.

How much is it from Dover to Paris? Taking into account the Eurostar and coaches etc to get there

I just cancelled my room at the hotel Tak and the others are staying in as I can't go But it does mean they should have a free room unless someone super-quick has snapped it up already.

If you catch the Eurostar the train will take you directly into the center of Paris from London St Pancras to the Gard du Nord station. Eurostar at the moment seems to cost £140 return. I'm sure you could find a cheap flight. (EDIT: Just checked and No Frills airline seem to have return flights for £75 to Charles de Galle airport.)

From Dover, I guess you'd have to catch a ferry to Calais and then a train to Paris. P&O Ferries say a return to Calais from Dover is around £44, but you'd have to decide how to get to Paris from there.

If you want to purchase tickets for the event in advance you can buy them from a site called FNAC. They're like Ticketmaster here, and you can get them sent to your house in the UK. This means you will have to queue, but like the fast track at London Expo, the queue isn't as long (and you don't have to attempt to ask for a specific ticket in French)

Awesome, thanks for the details. I didn't know it was that cheap, I assumed more like £300!

I'm not going this year but will retain the information for when I decide to blow my money on the French people. Thankfully, speaking French is no problem for me LOL.

There was a lot of jaw-dropping costumes and a lot of simple, fairly casul ones as well. Really, I think anything would fit in, casual or jaw-dropping.

But I agree that all your costumes are pretty damn jaw-dropping

Holy Moley, I just checked out the website and it looks like an amazing convention! *___*
I've seen previous pictures before of amazing cosplayers too and so I knew it was good but not THAT good! I'm so jealous of the guest listings there! *___* *cough like amazing manga-kas cough*
I'm also amazed at the number of art competitions there [They ARE art competitions aren't they? xD;; If not then I need to revise some french eheh heh xD;]

I shall remember this convention for the future fufufu >3
I definitely wanna go to this when I'm older and can afford it 8D;
Plus it'd be a great opportunity to actually test out my French skills, otherwise that GCSE would go to waste ;__;

Ahaha, I shall stop spamming this thread now seeing as I'm not even going xD;; I'm determined to go in the future though 8D;

Like Ashe says, it's a whole mixture of woah and simpler things. They have masquerades every day so you're always sure to see some amazing costumes. Orihime actually took part in one of them last year so she's the girl to ask if you're interested in entering (the stage is bloody huge in it's own room where all the music concerts are held)

They also hold the French selection of the World Cosplay Summit there on the Sunday.

A lot of cosplayers from all over Europe go, not just France which makes it extra nice.

Last year I felt there weren't as many costumes, but we were told later on that they'd introduced a rule where you could only enter one masquerade that year, which put a lot of people off bringing so many.

THERE ARE ALSO FREE HUGGERS!
And the signs are always in English.

If you're going on the Friday and fancy joining us, we're making our own outfits based on animals we like (for something easy wearing for the first day looking around with less crowds)

BEWARE THEY ALL SPEAK FUNNY!

Paris Expo was a good laugh, even if I didn't understand a word anybody was saying. XD

Just don't stay outside of Paris... Trust me on that one.

If you do, don't catch the train back late at night.

My unimpressed face says it all really, but just in case - IT'S NOT SATISFACTORY!

It was my first time last year and amazing. Everyone was really friendly, the place is immense, the sections/genres varied and a superb guest list. We should arrange a little CosplayIsland get together somewhere on one of the days ^^ Although if the strangely dressed people screaming in English isn't a clue...
