mmmmm... cardboard? painted with the patterns on? carboard is even easy to sew to closthes too.

I think cardboard would look kinda tacky.. and I want it to look seethrough too..

aah right... and it could look good if they were painted right...

well you can buy big sheets of acrylic plastic at like B&Q and places like that and all you gotta do is cut it out with a little saw, peel off the plastic wrapper on it and find some way of painting it..... maybe glass paint? it could go blotchy and you'd need alot though...... *thinks*

How about some form of maluable wire? I mean, make the shape of the outside of it in the wire and cover it with some form of light material, or layers of the stuff? That might work.

For wings like that I would suggest a wire frame, and if you want a similar look (because you're not going to get the exact look) try something like chiffon, maybe with dress net of a different colour over the top?

i would go with silvers idea and use a wire frame have a thin cloth wrap around and then paper mache tissue paper to the wings... and then add a few more layers of PVA to give it the smoothness and shine

oh yeah! the paper dont just ripp it... but cut them into triangle shapes so when they overlap they give more of the sharp edgy look

you can get acrylic plastic at b&q? interesting, could use that for future cosplays XD

as for colour, what about permanent markers? would take a while, but would definately work, they go on anything and everything and stay there

I agree with the idea of making a wire frame and attaching layers of shimmery chiffon fabric to it. Unless you can find really large sheets of thin assitate (the stuff they use on overhead projectors *flashbacks of school*)

Clear PVC sheeting will be far too heavy to support and also will be dangerous to walk around wearing.

If you are going to go for something other than fabric, I'd second the above idea. Anything thicker than acetate would need a really well thought-out harness to be able to hold it in place. The way the wings appear though, you might not need huge sheets, you could make it out of smaller pieces layered on top of each other?

Also, for painting if you go to large B&Q/Homebase stores they have decorative spray paint - Plastikote do a frosted blue that is translucent, might look pretty cool! (I spotted it and thought it would be excellent for the brotherhood sword from FFX)

Acrylic will be *way* to heavy for four wings strapped to your back! D:

Acetate or a wire frame with a nice bluey/translucent chiffon will look pretty good. For added awesome you could think of hooking up some blue/white LED's to the very base of the harness and have them face the wings direction to give a cool effect on the fabric.

hmm.. somehow i think using wire and chiffon would be a bit too.. fairy-like.

how about using blue clear vinyl?
or.. styrene, and paint it blue?
