Cosplayers who inspire you?
Theres been a bit of bad JuJu going on with the forums lately so I thought I would lighten it up a bit with this.

Well I am constantly impressed by cosplayers on here more and more every day! lets get that out of the way first of all. Second I have to say that its always an inspiration to me when I see certain costumes and they always make me strive more and more with my own costumes, weather they be the same one im making or just generally

So I guess im asking which cosplayers on here you are really impressed by and what costume in particular, how has it inspired you That sort of stuff.

Warning: This thread does not apply if other cosplayers do not inspire you so no need to post if thats the case

Luke.

I must say when I saw Ranma's Sailor Mars cosplay I felt really inspired to try cosplaying a Sailor Senshi. He did it amazingly.
Also I really liked Leadmill's steampunk outfit. I still to this day wanna try making a military steampunk outfit when I get some money saved up.
Lex's Trinity Blood cosplays too were just wow.

My big inspiration for cosplay (not just because her cosplays are awesome) is Pez (though she doesn't know this-if she reads this, she now does XD) I first met her at a meet in my local area, and was just...wowed by her sheer guts, wearing her full cosplay to the train station to meet everyone, and it was beautiful, whereas I turned up with half my maylene cosplay in my bag incase I was 'overdressed' XD She seems to take so much pride in her costumes down to every detail, my favourite of hers being her faize costume, but shes not afraid to mess around like she did when she cosplayed one half of Cameron and Clegg XD

Another inspiration of mine is butterflygoddess, as she doesn't stop tweaking a cosplay till she has it perfect it seems XD thats dedication. She has also taken time out of her day to help me with my sewing also on occasion which is much appreciated XD

Hehe.

Tab and Xae. They do the kinda stuff that makes me go "I should just give up now" and then "I'll try harder"

seriously, you're both amazing.

Ranma was a big inspiration to me in Crossplay as I probably wouldnt have done it if I hadnt seen his amazing pics! and he was humble enough to give help to me when I needed it and just generally has a high standard of not only costume but performance

Fishyfins Balthier I think should be an inspiration to all of us, the level of craftsmanship is just beyond mind boggling easily one of the best costumes on this site that isnt over the top

Ahh there are so many people on here who inspire me so XD Usually found in the 'random cosplay' thing that pops up at the bottom, I like nosing around at what other people are doing :3

Mangachild's muscle suits are awesome, particularly his Kenshiro and Vegeta cosplays, they make me seriously want to make one myself but I'm scared of it *is n00b with foam*

Ahhh there are so many on here that make me want to get better myself, I just browse through so many costumes in awe *_* The level of detail some people put into their costumes is so amazing ^_^

I have others like Technoranma and Glay from DA but they're not on here. Their costumes and wigs are always so perfect!

There are the obvious wow-factor cosplayers like Xae and Tab

But I must give a shout out to people like Nocturnal_Blossom and Monkey for their stunning details and gorgeous costumes~

Angelphie is one of the first cosplayers I met when I moved to the UK and she has been a constant inspiration to me. I don't get to see her as often anymore but her sewing is so tidy and detailed and I've learned so many techniques from her which has improved my costuming greatly.

Also, Volpin (not on CosplayIsland, you can see his blog here: http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/) is very inspirational when it comes to props. His step-by-step guides make me think "Hey... I can probably do this!" which is an awesome feeling.

Tab and Xae have really inspired me when it comes to thinking up big stuff seeing them with those awesome cosplays they make really made me fired up to make Yuna, I think.

I'm a fan of GunstarVixen and Silver, because I think their cosplays are always gorgeous

Also my close friend GoldieNeko I think is incredible, I'm so lucky to know her because her work is amazing

And CrystalNeko X3 for always helping me out when I have a problem, be it wig hunting or putting silk onto large bamboo poles |D

(also picklesofdoom and neko_riddles for being awesome cosplay buddies and more)

I know it'll sound a bit cheesy, but EVERY cosplayer out there inspires me! Everyone has their own little hints and tips that they can use to help you with. Everyone has their own little variations on a cosplay! And so every cosplay and cosplayer out there inspires me to do better! ^^;

But I do think a special mention has to go to CrystalNeko, she does help me ever so much XD

^/////^ Thanks so much! But really, I turned up to the picnic dressed like that because I live so close to the meeting point and it was me who called for a cosplay picnic so I wanted to make sure everyone could recognise me, that's all!

As for me, I love Sephirayne's work. The amount of details in all her costumes make me want to improve on my work as well.

I'm incredibly envious of Alyx's makeup skills.

Cat_Cat, although not very active on this site, has the ability to carve ANYTHING out of foam. One day I'm going to try that as well!

The range of methods xaerael uses in his cosplays encourages me to learn new skills.

KhaosKreator is hugely talented. He can take a costume further and make it look /real/, if anyone knows what I mean. *lacks words*

There are loads out there with inspiring work, including Pez and Odd_One_Out but I'd have to give special thanks to Mew Den Chan as she's the friend who got me into cosplay in the first place! If it wasn't for her I doubt I'd have been brave enough to start cosplaying at all and her awesome tyki mikk inspired me to start working on more elaborate costumes.
I love browsing the random costume feed as well - the best way to find new and inspiring work.

GunstarVixen and FairyPorchQueen truly inspire me all the time! They really make me want to learn more and attempt costumes I would normally just be like "that's too complicated for me.. ill never do it".

Actually, if it wasn't for FairyPorchQueen giving me some advice about Ariel's mermaid's form I wouldn't have decided to make it for myself! So mega kudos and thanks to her.

I also get alot of inspiration from my friend NightmareWings!

Too many awesome people on here, how can this website possibly contain it all?!

mangachild and hellokitty taught me almost everything i know about cosplay and were the first best friends i met at expo, there constanly helpful with cosplay and life

and to sephnoir as shes a very good friend, she does such awsome things and shes always ready to give me a hand with stuff i get stuck with and shes nice about it too

So many cosplayers inspire me I would hate to miss any names out. Different people inspire me for different reasons.. Some for the neatness of their finish, some for their awesome prop making, some for the difficulty level of their cosplay choice, and some for their sheer sense of fun with cosplay. So many of you inspire me that I'm glad I decided to try it, and glad I found such a lovely bunch of guys to cosplay with. Cosplayers rock! ^_^

Hnnnng!?!? I got a mention!? Bawww you guys are lovely ;_;

I think Lex_is_evil and Angelphie on here do the more spectacular costumes, I love seeing their new works and every costume looks so well made!

Delusional and Amy-Lou deserve a special mention as well, their craftsmanship is amazing too and it makes me happy they do a lot of obscure stuff as well as mainstream.

Insomniatic-cosplay are a group of people on here (you know who you are XD). I remember when I went to my second Expo or something they were known as FFExpoClan with a slightly different group of people, but they were still awesome back then. When I first came to the scene they looked like they were having so much fun and it just made me want to cosplay seriously, so you could say that they inspired me to cosplay in the first place. I love that they always do epic big groups and they're all so lovely to boot <3

<3 Aww thanks Reiss!

For me a lot of different people have inspired me in the past, both internationally and UK. One of the first cosplayers I noticed and that got me into cosplay was Adella with her Aerith. I'm always stunned by Volpin, Goldie,

From the UK I've learnt a number of new techniques and tried new materials thanks to people like Lex, Xae, Tab, LuluRose Ilpala, Montblanc, MangaChild, HelloKitty, Reiss and lots of other people. ^^

Ah SephNoir I forgot to mention you D: I suck T_T

Yeah, SephNoir is awesome too, I love the way she does wigs and I'm always looking forward to seeing her latest work

Plus the Phoenix Wright wig she made for me, I love to bits <3

An earlier post said that every cosplayer inspires them, and I whole heartdly agree ^^ When I went to my first expo I saw so many amazing costumes, I felt inspired to have a good and proper go at this cosplaying shiz myself. I still get that inspiration everytime I go to an expo.

Seeing people do my dream cosplays intimidates me, as I fear my own attempt will be crap in comparison. But they also make me want to get going and make it ^^

I think you'd have to be fairly egotistical not to be inspired by other cosplayers, for many reasons. You can always learn from the good and the not so good.
My inspiration was Jedielfqueen.

Fantastic response right there, I think we can all relate I think a good deal of us could benifit from a bit of humility and modesty that being said I would like to say that I really respect Leadmill as a costumer and after meeting him and having a good old chin wag would like to say that I apreciate his attention to detail and research when doing costumes.

Ah this is such a good idea for a thread!

I really admire Adamoluna for her amazing armour skills. She makes me want to tackle bigger armoury things for myself because of her gorgeous results.

For construction and finish on costumes I think Angelphie, Limegreenjelly, Chibi and Lex_is_evil continue to impress me each and every time. I think all four of them really nail every little detail on their costumes.

Finally I think Tab really impresses me because well I honestly dont think their is a costume he cannot tackle! Also the skits he and the Khaos crew come up with, they are so enjoyable to watch every time.

But I admire so many people on here, that's just a few. I really love the people who I group cosplay with alot of the time aswell. I honestly think everyone here deserves some admiration! Thats my opinion anyways.

I'm going to post a few of my favourite costumes instead of just naming people, partly because there's too many fantabulous people to name and I dont think there is anyone in particular that inspires me "to cosplay" - well other than montblanc who is always talking me into things ;P and generally got me into all this in the first place (love you <3)

Angelphie's Alice for unbelievable accuracy and skills, it was so beautiful so glad i got to see it up close

Uni's C.C. for being too darn pretty

Ventus by lastordersuk and Terra by gainax for smexy armour and a heroic use of hot glue

kan-chan's Tingle for pure awesomeness

neomogrox's kuja for pure smexiness

Ailsa-chan's Maid Marian & Robin Hood which made me squee and made so many people happy by being sooooo awesome

. . .I'm sure I'll probably think of more later . . .

You flatter me! thank you ^_^

seriously though, there are so many people who I could list that inspire me, make me go "woah" and who are just amazing that I'd end up writting an essay!
