I had two idiotic girls (who probably weren't more than about 15 years old, I guess) come up to me while I was cosplaying as Belle from Beauty and the Beast and ask if I was a boy. I was too dumbfounded to actually say anything at first, so when I eventually managed to blurt out "what?" they were like "OH OOPS LOLOLOLOLOL" and ran off without apologising.

I guess that's rather tame compared to a lot of things in this thread, but I was quite upset at the time!

ffffffffffffffffffffff they didn't even apologise? I would have been very VERY FFFFFFFFF...yeah. I get defensive pretty easily...

I would have demanded an apology, it's the least they could do.

I've had comments on my boobs, because they happen to be *ahem* a lot larger than average.

When I was cosplaying Sakura Kinimoto at May Expo this year I was called a "pervert", so me being me I wheeled round and asked why, and apparently I 'shouldn't stuff tissue down my bra to cosplay a little girl'. I told the guy to cop a feel and see if he felt any tissue; an offer which he denied...
However, later, a free hugger I hugged took the opportunity to cop a feel without being asked. After I slapped him, he said he was "looking for chicken fillets".
Another was cosplaying Lara Croft last October, and some idiot shouts "BIG BOOBS" from across the corridor and some other douche who walks past and blatantly says "WOAH! I never knew Lara's boobs were THAT big!" I also got asked if I'd had plastic surgery on them quite a few times. Every time I explained that I was 16 and the boobs were all mine.

One other random thing before I finish my rant. In Disneyland Paris I cosplayed Alice and some random French teen with a group of mates shouted "FASHION!!!" in my face.
Now, normally I would have argued with him (even in French if I had to!), but since I was with my grandma, who is a pensioner with a bad hip, and my little sister, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, I had other priorities.

Rant over...I think...

im amazed disney didnt say anything to you i found out when i was working there anyone who looks to like the character you have to ask to change buuuuuut if you had no clothes with you they will let you have some for free lol random fact there

Eh i get odd comments just normally in life; still got green hair from jak and got a group of football yobs yelling about whether a pigeon crapped on my head the other day. also get grief about bandanas, general life outlook and what i wear...which is mostly outdoors/hiking stuff.

Basically, intolernace is everywhere and if you do somehing 'abnormal' like cosplay, it makes you an easier target. Go listen to the avenue q song "everyones a little bot racist" and youll find it applies to pretty much anything thats different between people; some are jusy rude enough to actually act on their judgements

not been on these forums in a while, saw this topic and had to post:

Kitacon 09 in Northampton(one of the least cosplay friendly cities ive been to), the Naruto Photo shoot outside, i was there as Pre-TS Shino. there were a group of drunks sittng on the wall futher into the park bit at the back of the hotel. when there were 25 or so of us, nothing happened, they just carried on getting drunk. when the numbers dwindled as people went outside, they got increasingly vocal. starting with

"bloody freaks!"

going all the way up to

"all right, you've had your fucking dress-up, now get the fuck out of our city, you fucking spaceman!"

god's honest truth thats what he said. it was pathetic and hilarious to watch them stuble to their feet and shout at us, but also a little worrying for the youngsters in the group/ people who didnt want to get into a fight. me, i was willing to cook me up some hobo's, but the blood wouldve been hard to get out of the Shino Coat xD

walking through Northampton the next year for Kitacon 2010, looking for a primark, while dressed in my Stein cosplay, Accompanied by both Medusa and Tobi, wasnt fun either :S

I went out for my Birthday dressed as Rogue as the theme was Heroes & Zeros. I wasn’t too happy with the final finish as the Jacket I got at last minute and It was a size 12 and I’m a size 8, so it did nothing to give me any shape (Needless to say I’m currently working on a new jacket, boots, belt and wig).

Whilst out some random guy shouted at me “Who the hell are you supposed to be? A Power Ranger?” I pretended that I didn’t hear the comment and carried on. I thought there was no point in even explaining it to a drunken guy.

The second comment I got was some other drunk randomer shouting “Wolverine!!!” over and over to get my attention. Once again I just ignored.

But for those 2 bad comments, I received plenty of good ones. Even some of the Bouncers were telling me I looked awesome!

When I went in the main park they said nothing, but in the studios park they told me to take off my pinafore and bow saying that "There's only one Alice!" when 1. I didn't see Alice there, 2. Since when is Alice in the studios and 3. there were hundreds of Cinderella's and Sleeping Beauty's and other princesses but there's only one MINOR CHARACTER WHOS NOT EVEN A PRINCESS AND WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE PARK YEARS AGO? pfffft

Not to mention, that 'rule' isn't written ANYWHERE. I even looked on the website and in the brochure. Not a word.

I think the worst one for me was when someone I thought was my friend said, "Big girls shouldnt cosplay" that really hurt my feelings.

She was a twig and could wear hardly anything, but now she can go screw herself.

I was so upset because she didnt say to my face she said it behind my back to another friend of mine so that made it worse.

But the good thing is, since then I have done the outfits I want and I make them fit me to my shape.

Another one was something along the lines of "If you have big boobs you should make sure to show them off at all costs and if you get gang raped its your fault!" How is it?

Yeah, but the thing is, there is no Alice in disney anymore. She got thrown out to make room for the whole 'new generation' crap. That's what I couldn't get.

Free clothes!? That's it, I'm going to Disney in cosplay next year >D
*shot*

I don't think I've had anything rude said about me, I must be lucky :'D
I mean, I've only cosplayed in public a couple times for organized shoots and I've actually expected to be heckled a few times by chavs walking past whenever we're doing a shoot but they never do! And I sure hope it stays that way. I'm always in a big-ish group and we're quiet-ish people so I guess they don't feel the need to heckle us :'D

Wasn't In cosplay, But had a Naruto jacket on and some old man yelled at me

"anime sucks, the only thing worse then anime is cosplay"

It took me a while to realise he was talking to me but when i did i found it rather funny, just cause he was a short fat bald guy on the underground pissed and yelling at strangers.

It's funny because really, the only people who know what cosplay is are people that cosplay themselves or they're a relative/friend of a cosplayer so really he's a bit of a hypocrite
