Kotoko are pretty well known, they doa lot of game/anime music.

Siam Shade are a really talented rock group

maaya sakamoto is a wonderful singer.

mayumi koijima is a bit more off the beaten track, as a modern japanese jazz singer.

explore it really. listen to jpopsuki's radio station, they play alsorts and you're bound to find things to your taste.

Hello!Project have a number of really nice bands/singers too. Morning Musume, Buono, C-ute, Berryz Koubou are all good ones~

Ayumi Hamasaki is an amazing Jpop singer as well.
Yui is another Jpop singer I adore.

If you want to try out visual kei, I really love Nightmare. If you watch Death Note, they sung the WORLD, but they've done songs far better than that.

A little less mainstream but still, very pretty music. Kanon takes classical music (Pachelbel's Canon as an example) and turns them into pop songs.
Again, may not be many people's cup of tea, but hey - I'm one to like all sorts of music.

HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR are a good one, pretty decent Jrock band. I haven't heard too many songs from them but from what I've heard they're pretty good.

Something very different, Ali Project. I don't know what to class them as but they're definitely Japanese XD. Mainly famous for their songs in Rozen Maiden but their other works are just as good!

Tried to give you a mixture of genres there as I wasn't sure what genre you were after!

My most favourite artist is Tokyo Jihen. The lead singer, Ringo Shiina used to be a solo artist, but now she joined this amazing band.

TMRevolution is another fave of mines. They are more known for music for the Gundam Amine. Speaking of Gundam, Nami Tamaki is my favourite female solo artist.

Finally, I can not forget about Nana Mizuki, who is probably more known for the VA of Hinata from Naruto, but her works are amazing! If anyone wants to listen/buy her music, I recommend her latest album which was released last month called "IMPACT EXCITER"

My all-time favourite is Glay, which does pop as well as rock. I guess it's lesser known to anime fans though because they haven't done anime songs the way loads of other bands have. I've followed Glay for over 10 years already. XD Love their rock stuff as well as ballads. And they write the most beautiful lyrics, although I can only understand a fraction of it!

Noone's posted since August, but Imma post anyways.
I love Berryz Koubou, they're all very talented and it's some of the first japanese music I got into, since they're all still so young etc, you can really see how much they've changed since their first single to their newest, but still kept the same innocence but grown up. I like that about them. And still with (Almost >w< All their original members, minus Maiha who left. And I love all the dances, costumes, tunes and everything. *o* I love them. Especially Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda and Maji Bomber.<3

Also AKB48 are amazing, I love Utada Hikaru, Maaya Sakamoto, Ai Otsuka, but also stuff like Maximum the Hormone, which is weird in comparisson to the rest of my music. I love Gackt too.<3

I love Utada Hikaru so much (was lucky enough to see he in concert). Shes my favourite Japanese singer.
Other faves include Nana (sang the FMA end credits), Yui (sang FMA Brotherhood opening credits), Gackt and Hyde.
When I was in Tokyo I heard an amazing artists new CD being played but I cant remember for the life of me who it was. If I remember I'll post again c:

My favourite are probably either Home Made Kazoku and Yui. The rest of the japanese songs I listen to are mostly from anime openings and endings xD
