on the subject of the ebay stuff looking crap, I aggre about most looking bad I spent hours looking for a decent orgy jacket and found a good 1 it arrived looks great but the chains are all wrong kinda spoils the whole thing, since it's pieces of string and tacky beads, gonna change it at some point.

but I've also seen plenty of amazing costumes people have made and clearly not bought. Since I'm usless I buy all my outfits but always spend hours finding good 1s.

i'd like to end the ebay nonsense by pointing out that 99% of people don't care unless it's a jerk passing it off as their own to "look good" or win competitivley.

I think putting on that you shouldn't take credit that isn't rightfully yours is a given. And the person who said it in the first place was obviously joking.

but that was in response to a comment made over 2.5 years ago when virtually all "ebay cosplay" was awful. in '07 most of it was polycotton crap with single stiched seams knocked out by a chinese sweatshop. some stuff is a bit better now, but there is an awful lot of garbage out there still.

I actually like my ebay bought sailor fuku and shizz, it still gets commented on, and I'm like 'lol its from ebay! I couldn't make this!' and people are like O_o ebay? Seriously? Its amusing.

But anyways, don't wanna dig up a 2 year old thread. *shuts up and carrys on with uni work she should be focusing on*

On wig heads: I meant I spent a total of £18.89 (to be exact lol). In all I got 5 wig heads, for about £3.77 each XD

@ebay thing: okay whatever. I was just giving a voice to costume makers that didn't have one. It's just I get annoyed that people still go "ebay stuff is shite" when it's not always. The only one who get ripped off honestly are the ones that can't realise that they're rubbish. The comments really help oddly enough.

And over 2.5 years ago, my friends have bought a Sora, Urahara and .hack Kyte (i think, i dunno) cosplays, and they've been really good quality too.

Only cosplayers will hunt around B&Q buying up random objects because they might be the right shape for X prop.

It annoys me when other cosplayers act like snobs because someone has bought their costume. I can make my own, but I won't if I feel I won't make it that well and don't have the time. My friend can't sew to save her life, she doesn't have much money, and she feels as if she's a burden on her friends if she gets them to make them. Ebay costumes are relatively cheap, so that's her only option. And does it really matter?

Only cosplayers spend way too much time in the kiddies section looking a toy guns they might be able to paint silver for a cosplay they might do.

Is this an 'It is annoying when...' thread or an 'Only cosplayers...' thread? I'm getting confused XD Lets just drop the subject or start another thread up maybe?

the only thing people get annoyed with is people passing off bought as home-made, which was what people were talking about back when the thread was new. it's been an issue since cosplay began in the UK, and someone on this very site had their account deleted for leading people along on a lie. the big drama starts when they try to enter masquerades that are strictly "self made only" and start taking up places that legitimate home made costumes could. this was something very common back around '07, but since then a lot of filtering procedures have been implemented.

people don't care about buyers, people only care about liars.

i have every reason to be "eliteist", but i'm not. my first Ed was an ebay (by my flatmate, and long term friend no less).

And I said in a response that the person who said it was obviously just joking and not to take it seriously what she said.

And I do understand that it would be annoying if someone says that it's their own work when it's not. That happens in any situation, not just cosplay - I have had someone say to others "hey, I've drawn this" when I've actually drawn it for them. Not really the same, as there was no competition involved, but still very annoying.

Only cosplayers see a difference between cosplay and fancy dress. No-one else does.

Uhm... i think that not all the costumes are aweosme, i mean i have bought one from ebay and i plan to where for it the may expo, because it's my first time really cosplaying and i'm a complete novice. It's not completely correct so i'm gonn a fix stuff.

But also my first kinda cosplay was all from my wardrobe XD and i'm now moving on to make my own cosplays too. So sometimes you gotta start somewhere ne Even if it is old ebay XD XD XD

I know exact;y what you mean, I bought my first ever cosplay off ebay, and It wasn't that bad, but my friends was terrible, It was made with the wrong coloured material, and we were freaking out because everyone would notice and think we were noobs so we ended up taking it apart and re-making it

only cosplayers would get annoyed when searching for a cosplay wig and you get directed to fancy dress wigs
or is that just me (no-one knows what cosplay is in Blackburn -.-)
