I was in my Sado Yasutora cosplay at mcm manchester expo when I heard someone quite rudely and annoyingly shout at me entirely in capslock.

"YO. YO!! YOU CHAD!?"

Jae: Yes.

"WHERS UR BIG ARM!?"

Jae: My pants. Come and get it. *pokerface*

Talk to me like that and you will get smacked about the face by my sarcasm.

I live in a rough area so I don't wear drastic cosplays out and about except for the odd wig, The only time iv travelled in cosplay was when I was Kairi I had a long black coat on which almost covered my pink dress the person spotted my shoes and Keyblade and said are you dressing up as Kairi later? (I didn't have my wig on at this point) He said he loved my Keyblade and said id done an awesome job when I explained id made it myself I was impressed that a chav in my area recognised who I was.

Another time when I was cosplaying Mulan Id taken off my wig and was restyling it and the ticket inspector said 'I hope thats not a real head' me and my friend just burst out laughing

Also at the Homestuck meet last month about three parents came up to us because their kids wanted to know what we were doing. Most of the children seemed quite scared.

Ahahaha yeah, and the ones that sat down watching us for a while and then asked when the mime act was going to start. They seemed so confused when we said that we just did this for fun and we weren't an act.

This was at expo and wasn't aimed at me but I found it hilarious XD
There were a few kids on bikes, obviously not there for expo and just biking around, laughing and pointing at cosplayers. They pointed at me and a few friends for a bit but we ignored them and then we saw them rudely pointing and being rude toward our friend, who was Squall from final fantasy.
He wasn't bothered, but he just turned around and said 'look, I know I'm sexy, but don't let it interupt your chavvy little lives', and the looks on their faces just made it even better because they obviously wanted to reply, but then they noticed a huge gunblade and decided to bike away XD

Once I was on a train dressed as Remus Lupin going to Kings Cross station in september for a photo shoot and some chavs got on the train and told me to go f**k Dumbledore I burst out laughing which really shocked them lol

Well the only comment I have had is from the taxi driver who said I 'looked like a doll' in my Misa cosplay..though I see his point haha.

Just mainly get the 'what the fuck' look but I'm not partically arsed (:

At MCM Oct 2011, I was cosplaying Celty Sturulson all weekend, and I got a few "Mrs Stig"'s (which I can understand)
and I also got a lot of 'Catwoman' and 'batwoman'...

The funniest was when me and my friend (who was cosplaying Shinra) were sitting on a bench just in front of the ExCel, and two guys in suits came up to us and said, "Oh, so what's going on here then?"
My freind: "It's a movie, comics and media expo."
Man: "Is it a sexual thing?"
Friend: "Erm...no."
Man: "But what's she dressed like that for?" *gestures at me*
Me: "I'm a motorcyclist"
Man: "I can see that. Definatly a sexual thing."

Then he and his friend walk off discussing loudly that we were at some kind of fetish convention...

XD

Oh, also, the next top model people XD
they would just stare right in my face, or really obviously point (apparently they think because I have a visor I can't see them :S)

and I heard one woman say "Oh it's just for halloween"

I think my best one was when I was in the snow queen. A couple of the young ladys from the brittans next top moddle were laughing at me. They made a comment about how old fashiond I looked and I said to them at least I had the grace and a figure with witch to carry it off. What is it with people and thinknig medievil dresses made of vaelvet are easy to get round in especially with a really tall corwn on top trust me it's not!

The other one I remember is being staired at when I was in victoria station dressed as Mr Darcy. I got asked at one point who I was and what I was donig you know was I from aperiod drama or soemthnig. I cracked up laughing.

I heard some girl from britains next top model saying 'This is the cool side and that side is the retard side' , one of them claimed the cosplayers were ruining her day xD

Was at a con, hanging out in cosplay with a friend outside the convention building. A guy who is cycling past stopped, says "I am a normal human being" and carried on.

Personally, Me thinks he doth protest too much ^.^

Good.

We totally looked better than all of them put together, we all probably could have posed better and it was pretty obvious that our even was stealing some of their limelight. I just did a strut when I walked past their crowd, they seemed kind of pissed of about that.

Their event must really have sucked to have been ruined by your mere presence.
But then, I get their point, I can't tell you how many times I've had a day ruined by someone doing something different and not disturbing my activities.

They must be pretty sad if a totally unrelated event was ruining their day...
But I agree, they must have been jealous...all those photographers around taking pictures of cosplayers and not stuck-up model types.

At Expo Oct 2011, I was with my dad and rather than going to McDonald's/Subway etc., we went to the (overly-expensive, slow service) restaurant up the stairs.

It was great seeing the whole of the ExCel but I was getting some funny looks from people (I was in my Luke cosplay) who had been to the Britain's Next Top Model show and there was one Chinese lady who couldn't stop staring at me...

If I'd heard that I've been tempted to point out she (in my opinion) had back to front

The only reaction I've had thus far is confused looks, I was once cosplaying Reika from the webcomic Red String walking my to my hotel with my at the time boyfriend and some woman gave us a disgusted look because we were holding hands and I was in a school uniform. Made him look like someone in his mid twenties dating a teen.... heh I should have told her that I'm actually older than him!

Once me and my friends went out dressed as the best and brightest from Bioshock , I was Brigid Tenenbaum , some huge group guys started singing the theme tune Welcome To Rapture from Bioshock , it was so hilarious .

I went into town with my friend last year on International Cosplay Day. She didn't have any cosplays at the time, but I cosplayed as Haruhi Suzumiya. I got a lot of weird looks and people snickering. And in one shop I went into, some girl tapped her friend on the shoulder and asked her "Would you wear that?" and laughed.

There was also a cosplay meet in town earlier this year, I didn't get as many weird stares because my cosplay was kind of normal-looking but we got a lot of people looking at us and asking us why we were wearing such strange clothes. Like were we on a field trip or was it some special holiday for our religion? XD And a group of Indian chavs came up to us and started going on but I had no idea what they were saying cuz of their accents (no offence to anybody) and I think they were drunk. We were laughed at by a lot of chavs while we were dancing too.

I've also cosplayed in school on non-uniform days quite a few times and of course that spawned a lot of "What are you wearing?"s and "What the f*ck is that?"s And I got a lot of weird stares when I wore my Miku cosplay to my friend's Japanese picnic in town. I was the only one cosplaying XD Oh, and the time my Grandmom screamed when she saw my Matryoshka hoodie. She was 100% serious o.o

That awkward moment when you're cosplaying a group of trolls and you go into a tiny cafe to try an find a seat and everyone stops and stares.

I used to be all IDGAF about it but now it makes me really uncomfortable...

This isn't at a con because I have yet to go to one, so here's the story.

One of my best mates (Vicky) was holding a Halloween party and said that we had to come in costume (she somewhat understands cosplay and she's supportive of it, as all my friends are). I went to the party as Rin Kagamine. I was recieving lots of nice compliments about my costume, some asking who I was or asking if I was a character from some Japanese thing I liked (to which I explained cosplay and who I was cosplaying to them. They seemed rather interested). Then came the time to find out who won the best costume contest. I won and I was happy about that, but then my mates mum said she liked my rabbit ears. I gave her a blank look and she said that I had rabbit ears on my head. I quickly pieced together she meant my bow. I told her it was a bow and then my mates cousin took my bow off and said it looked more like rabbit ears and bent it (it only had cardboard in to hold it up). I wasn't a happy bunny to say the least.

Then on Halloween I went trick or treating with my other mate (Mollie) as Rin Kagamine and I was getting a lot of strange looks and some boys said to me and Mollie "Aren't you two too old to go trick or treating?" to which me and Mollie shouted back.
"You get free sweets! Who cares?!" The boys burst out laughing and agreed with us. I also asked Mollie if my bow looked like rabbit ears. She said the bow looked nothing like rabbit ears and said I make a cute Rin.

Also this has nothing to do with any cosplay, but I just remembered this from reading the story about the person dressed up as Rapunzel. I naturally have really long hair (a real bugger to keep in wig caps I need two to keep it all in) and I'm often called Rapunzel. It's fine when my friends call me that just for the hell of it, but then random people start calling me it. I was walking home from school and these girls are walking behind me, they look like their in Year 11 (I was in year 7 when this first happened) and they kept on calling Rapunzel. I knew they were talking to me because I have the longest hair in my school. They called Rapunzel one more time and I turned around to face them. They took a step back with a gasp and one of them asked,
"Is your name really Rapunzel?" I gave them a blank look and said.
"No my name isn't Rapunzel. My name is not of your concern and I would like it if you stopped calling me that." Turned on my heel and walked to my mums car. My mum was really proud of me.

Sorry about the last one. Just had to state it.

I was at a comic con dressed head to toe as wonder woman, I am a guy, I walked into the mens toilet, one guy yelled i am in the wrong toilet, another yelled I shouldn't be there and another tried to blame me for dropping his phone down the toilet when he saw me. I couldn't stop laughing

I have had a few occasions where there have been comments and stares xP

The first time was when me and some friends went into the city in cosplay for a friends birthday, I was dressed as L from Death Note, One friend was dressed as Sakura from Naruto, another was dressed as Misa Amane (Death Note Movie Ver.) and the other was dressed as Misa (Death Note Anime Ver.)
And we were just minding our own business and we notice a Bus Beeping rather loudly, so we turned around and he was beeping at us, and when he saw us looking he waved and put his thumbs up at us like a little fan-boy XDD

Another time was when we went to the Cinema to watch Dorian Grey for a friends birthday (Different friend this time) I was dressed as Rukia Kuchiki (School Uniform Ver.) my friend was in some cosplay which i cannot remember the name of XD and my other friend was in a random mix of japanese style with her hair in pig tails.
So we gave our tickets to the ticket guy and he looked me up and down and said.
"Hmm your quite inapropraitely dressed" and gave me the eyebrow and a frown.
I walked off and shouted back, "This is how i always dress!" XD

And more recently when i was on the Train to Hyper Japan 2011 Me and my friend were in full cosplay me as Rukia Kuchiki again (School Uniform Ver.) and my friend in her Sakura Haruno Cosplay.
These guys (About 8-10 of them came on the train) and they were foreign, and all i could hear in there whispers were "hhj shvj RUKIA jhj khgl" (I dont know what language they were speaking XD so "hjkdhks" will have to suffice XDD) and they kept on pointing discreetly XD
That was a fun time!

But quite often we get reactions from other people, as many have already said, we get the general WTF? face XD
But alot of people beep there car at us and put there thumbs up (Hopefully for a completely innocent reason )

The best day i had was at nemacon 2010 when i was dressed as Soul eater and my brother was dressed as naruto.
I got shouted down the street ' ORITE MAYTE ARE YOU A PIKACHU OR WHAT?'
and my brother got accused of being jackie chan by a guy in front of a pub we walked past.
Oh and we proceeded to dance down the street at the end of the day and some women threw money at us as she thought we were busking. XD
