You are allowed to make more than one entry a day If you've worked on multiple items then you can easily fill out another entry with your thoughts and methods that relate to the pic. If it's lots of shots of one item you can make a collage image combining them all into one.

Yeah but why constantly spam with multiple journals when you can just have one large one?
Because im sure if people who are friends with you dont want to see around 4-5 different notifications about new entries.

I think unless you're a cosplay powerhouse/sweatshop, you won't be making SO many journal entries every day that it'll annoy your friends... and if you are, you maybe need to think about choosing your progress pictures a bit more wisely! (e.g. okay guys... I've put a pin in! Here's a photo! ... TWO PINS IN NOW... later... GUYS, I PRICKED MY FINGER ON A PIN, HERE'S A PHOTO, etc LOL)

Also, as Amy-Lou suggested, you can just make a collage of pictures in MS Paint if you're really worried

Look i think what we all need to get is, cosplay island is fine the way it is, but people need to stop bootin peoples progress with ref SIMPLE lmao lets not complicate things peoples

I can make a full suit in a day if pressed for time. If I tracked the progress of that in a journal it would have a fair amount of stages (patterning drafting, cutting, details, construction, lining, tailoring, finishing) let alone if I wanted to add a tutorial of how to do a certain step.

Just playing devils advocate here really. I never worry about notifications because I know they go off my list so quickly I rarely see friend's updates.

Though I think it would be nice to have more photos per journal entry. For example I finished some embroidery recently and it seems wasteful to upload a journal entry for the entire design and a second one for a detail picture as you couldn't see any of the stitches that were used in the first.

Maybe you could put several photos together in one picture? I've done this before (see journal entries here), it's pretty quick to do on photoshop, and should be doable on free softwares as well.

Though, really, I would also prefer individual photos, and for journal photos to appear in the "latest photos" part so that people will upload progress photos in journal and finished pics in the main album part. I think people put progress pics in the main album so that it'll appear on the front page? I like looking at progress pictures, and feel it's a shame that people delete their progress pictures from the album to make way for finished pics.

The issue is that as the picture sizes are constricted you loose the full effect of detail shots.

I tend to upload several pictures in my journal and then a single progress on my main gallery. This is so I have the record of how I made things when the costume is finished with final photos and gallery picture is so people know I've updated.

Anglephie is doing an amazing Alice costume and she uses the journal only method for progress which means I'm constantly missing her updates of awesome. The watch list should combat that slightly in the future but I doubt it will come into the same level of use that the photos tab will.

Out of interest do you mean you're relying on her images appearing on the front page or are you actively going to the costume and just not clicking any other tab, bearing in mind the journal tab also shows the number of entries so you can spot an increase without clicking it and updates to journals now trigger the avatar to show on the front page. Hopefully the watch list will be a big help as you say.

I mean seeing a picture in the photo gallery will let me know if someone's updated. I get notified on the friends list but due to the amount of people updating that gets wiped out pretty quickly.

I so agree with this. Defo with the the reasons behind it. I have made sure that a check the ref image button everytime I post a ref image and it isn't so hard to do. I have only missed it once when my pc decided to have a hiccup as I was loading when I was loading one of the ref pics for Sister Paula.

I think a reminder box would be a good idea.

(btw, my offer to help modding pics and what not is stil open . Especially as I'm not working at the mo and do log in a stupid number of hours on this site *points to post count* XD XD).

Okay! We have moved the costume/reference choice to above the description box, so it's more visible. It is now also a mandatory field, you must select the type in order to upload your image correct (like you must add an image title.)

So now you have to select whether it is a photo or a reference image manually, and you cannot miss it...hopefully we'll see a decline in people using it incorrectly!

(As always, give us a shout if anyone finds any problems with the changes)




Just a quick one on this, in terms of worrying about spamming your friends list - between adding 3 progress photos or 3 journal entries doesn't make any difference to your activity log, it'll show up as 3 entries regardless (Or have I completely missed the point? Hehe)
