Retired Cosplays
I think there should be a retired status for cosplays which people retire it seems senseable with alot of people who do have retired costume on this site but have no way to inform people that there costume is retired

Oh, I agree. Cosplay Lab has this feature and I find it really useful when I'm trying to look through my costume list before an upcoming con to decide what to take with me. On Cosplay Island I have to spend ages thinking "wait, no, that costume is sold/missing/broken/ugly/etc, I can't wear it!".

It would also be a nice way to highlight which of your Completed costumes are newer and which ones you'd prefer that people looked at.

This sounds like a really good idea, like Yuka I often have to look through my list and go "Right, what haven't I thrown away? What can I wear again?" ^^;

Also it'd be much easier to organise them, actually, is is also possible to be able to change the order that your cosplays are shown on your page? Just coz loads of costumes I put up aaaages ago that I got around to making are shown further down the list when completed >.<

I heard the term 'retired cosplay' from an American cosplayer and always found the idea quite amusing! I can understand how it could help you organise though.

At the moment it doesn't really fit on the site, for example we couldn't add another status to the progress, because regardless of it being 'retired' it is still completed.

This would definitely go hand in hand with when we consider being able to amend your costume list though, but that is something that needs a lot of consideration to fit everyone's needs. (For example, I very rarely re-wear costumes, so does that make all of mine retired? Should they all be hidden away?) We're going to have to investigate this a fair bit.

For the time being if it's just for your own reference, I would suggest using the variant field to say 'Retired' - that way you can easily scroll through your list and spot them.

In all fairness i think this is a pointless idea lol

I mean seriously i just think all these things like retired are quite pointless in my opinion, cosplay island the way it is now is top notch and good stuff, it needs no more added, the whole retired bit would just be a clutter button basically.

It could work with adding a "completed- retired' option to the completion dropdown. No extra buttons or anything, they stay on the same page as the competed ones.

I've seen a few people edit the name of the costume to include "____ - Retired"

I just mention it's retired in the information box. Not many people read this but there you go.

I was about to come onto here and suggest something similar XD

I've seen a lot of people put it in the costume name and I thought what if there was a widget or something in the "Information" section where there was the option.

So where it says
"Cost: <??>"
"Time Taken: <??>" etc

There could be one where the user selects either "Active" or "Retired" or "Sold" (depending on how many options someone would need @_@ lol And so in the information it would appear something like:

"Cost: <??>"
"Time Taken: <??>"
"Status: Active"
or
"Status: Retired"

To be honest that's what I'm considering doing. I don't think in all fairness it needs to be much more than that.

I've been doing that too.

From the point of arranging groups if you were going to ask if people wanted to come to a shoot etc, to have a heads up on if it was still an 'active' costume to that cosplayer might be helpful.

I know it's been a while since I commented in this thread but I still think having a "Retired" feature would be nice! It could just be another option besides Planned/In Progress/Complete/Retired. In response to Kat, people would know that a retired costume is complete, it's just one that won't be worn again. Obviously it's up to a user if they want to use the retired function or not on their profile, some people may just want to keep all their costumes under the completed tab.

Personally I would like to use it to hide all of my really old costumes from several years ago, so when someone looks at my profile they get a quick glance of the costumes I'm actually proud of, and they don't see my back-log (unless they want to look at it, in which case they click on the Retired tab). Cosplay Island is the one site that I want to have my entire costume history on, so I don't want to go and delete all my old costumes just to tidy it up.

My only gripe with this is that to a user just browsing the site, I don't think 'retired' is a well used phrase, or obvious as to what it is. (Okay, I might be a bit daft but I was confused first time I heard it!) And even if it was retired, it is still a completed costume?

What I think would be more logical is to have a complete status, such as BabemRoze mentioned above (Active/Retired) which would display on the costume info. Perhaps we could get a icon, or a nicer way of differentiating between the two on the 'completed' tab.

In the next release you guys will have the option to sort your costumes in any order you wish on each of the tabs, so you can place all of your retired costumes to the bottom - and highlighting your active ones at the top. Do you think that would resolve the issue (sortable costumes, and having an icon or some 'mark' on the costumes tab to make it clear which ones are active)?

For the time being, as I know this wont be in the upcoming release (else we'll never get it out at!) pop it in the title as the guys have mentioned above. (If nothing else, if a lot of people do this, it'll highlight a greater need for this feature, and means I can go to Perrin with stats and proof )

How about in the completed tab there is a Retired sub section? Like all the ones marked Retired just go to the bottom under the retired sub section?

Like your new ones at the top like they already are and then a small divider saying retired and all of them are there? I mean I approve of this idea (I already put retired in my title XD) people still wanna show what they have done even if they have 'sold/destoryed/lost/just do not want to wear' cosplays ^-^

Just a random idea I had while reading this lol

Ooooh, I really like this idea actually! That would be quite handy, to have retired costumes go automatically to the bottom of the completed list.

I'm a sucker for organised folders and the like though!

I never usually mark cosplays as retired on C.I... I either leave them on as completed or just delete them.. depending on how much I liked them
