Don't worry, I'm with you. I went as Tokine from Kekkaishi, only one on board knew who I was.

Plus, the boat was awesome.

12 Jul 2010 - 11:1536177
The boat looked too big for the amount of people. My brothers girlfriend saw a bunch of cosplayers in the morning and she freaked out.

Dunno if I would go if they did another one though, doesnt seem to be my thing.

The pics people took are pretty though.

boat was bigger than it looked, could have probably held double the amount of people and it wouldn't have felt over crowded

Hello, Mad Hatter here ^_^

Saturday was fun got to meet lots of new people and some old ones who I hadn't seen in aaages! The event was a great idea but I thought more people would have been there as it seemed quite empty so hopefully next year will be fuller! (and maybe better music next year) Once I've uploaded the few pics I took I'll post a link =) xx

I had a jolly time fraternising with everyone. The boat was impressive, but I have to say the organisation left a lot to be desired, and I think it had a lot more potential.

There was very little communication, on the facebook page or their main site.
We only knew that there was a late change of meeting place due to our contacts. On the facebook page an answer about cloakrooms was given that suggested 500 people were expected, when actually it seemed more like only around 100 attended. Maybe there were people who missed the boat due to it not being clear.
Dance floor seemed quite empty even when everyone congregated to it near to the end. It felt kind of amateurish, when a lot of people (myself included) were expecting it not to be, given the venue.

A lot of people heard that tickets had sold out, and then close to event date they were told there were a lot of tickets left.. I think that was a bad move. I know of people who made other arrangements because of that and could no longer go.

Bands weren't bad though, I think. I'd heard the first one before at Cosplay Fever Opening (although, I preferred their previous set there) and Sputniko was quite funny and enjoyable.

I guess I'd go again if these issues were sorted out. But since the organisers apparently made a loss of 2 grand, I'm guessing it's unlikely.

Experience will come with time. It'll be a shame if they can't run it again, I wanted to go but couldn't because of other committments.

I do get the feeling that they under-advertised (for an event that could cater for so many, I only heard it mentioned a handful of times by my friends and during Expo)... but it's really difficult to advertise something for this sort of community. A new event/site/shop really can only count on word of mouth and community support because our main venue of communication is the forums, and all forums have rules about no advertising - which is entirely reasonable! Nobody wants forums to be cluttered with ads.

The downside though is that most of the time the people who run events can't reach out to the masses (proactive), and have to wait until word gets around and people look for their website and facebook pages (reactive). Or wait for another event and ask for 5 minutes of people's time before the masq to talk about their new event, maybe.

So I think something new like this really counts on people's support. I hope people will keep running events and not feel disheartened...

Personally, I had a brilliant time~ well done to all involved! The atmosphere was fabulous, seeing people again was lovely and actually getting requested songs played is a nice change from the norm, I might add. Also, the live acts were most appreciated by me <3

Though indeed, with it being the first time that it had been run, the organisers were bound to make a loss - people are often hesitant to pay to go to untested new events. Hopefully that'll be rectified for next year with word of mouth~ The guys sounded positive about there being a next crusie, so here's hoping.

I thought it was a Bargain night for £25

An Absolutely stunning Venue, Very nice Staff, Very Reasonably priced drinks, 4 Live Acts and a one of a kind picturesque tour of London

It was certainly a night to remember

Shame about the Attendance but that's not their own doing the guys promoted at London Expo and in Neomag both pretty high profile.

I for one certainly hope it runs again, preferably at a cooler time of year Maybe it could run alongside Expo on a Saturday or Sunday maybe an Expo Cruise joint venture?

This event has plenty of potential and Last Saturday was just the beginning

It wasn't a bad night at all. Drinks were average price I guess. People had a good time and it was rather enjoyable

My only major annoyance was that closer to the event the had lowered the age restriction from 18+ to 16+. My girlfriend could have come to this.

that's a very good idea.

maybe they can sell tickets on door, to get more ppl from the expo, if there's still room left.

I think they may not have been able to do this for insurance reasons

From what I've heard from friends (I couldn't go, live too far away) it sounded like it was a good event.

If it dose run again its unlikely that I'll go. Not becasue it isn't my kind event (I do like the sound of it). More becasue it would easierly cost me well into the £100 for one night (I have the same problem with the Grand cosplay ball). A train from Manchester isn't cheap. I would defo have to book a hotel so I would have to add the cost of that and food for the time I'm there. So the costs do mount up. So Although £25 dose sound good for what you get for the night I do have to consider other costs as well.

Shame really as I would love to go to events like this and the Grand cosplay ball. why can't there be more events like these near where I live or more central in the country.

Plus, I can get sea sick XD XD

I second this! I live near brum and there's never any good events like this in the middle of the country =( though I still go to ones in London xD cuz I get the national express coach down for £10-£12 return so it aint that expencive and if I do stay over night I share a hotel room =)

Oooh, if there was an Expo Cruise type thing then that would be excellent instead of that Expo Saturday party they always do! I never go to them myself, but if they turned it into a party on a cruise ship then I'd happily go

I didn't go this time round because I'm too young : P
Couldn't afford it anyway! (Have to take into account travel, accommodation and daytime shopping/spackery!)
If it happens again I might consider it depending if I have the funds or not, but with so many other events going on in the UK nowerdays probably not, it all adds up!
