I was wondering if anyone who'd cosplayed Matt before could give me some quick tips on his vest before I start mine, or if they've done anything similar.


I was planning to get some old coat from a charity shop, and fabric glue the fur stuff on, but I'm worried it'll be weak glue.

maybe sewin the fur on wud work better then glue? just make sure u get thread a similar colour so it wont show up as much

You could hem the fur slightly by hand and use hot glue if you're not good with a sewing machine, otherwise I would agree with justhewaydrmademe

hotglue, or glue of any kind.... NOT GOOD.

this is an "inside out" jacket. the fur is actually the seams that would normally be on the inside of a garment, the lines are where the fur is stitched together.

it's actually VERY easy to make. find a friend who has a good eye for design, get an old t-shirt you don't mind ruining, grab a roll of duct tape, and make a duct tape pattern of your torso.

once you're all taped up, get your friend to roughly draw the lines of the vest onto the duct tape while still on you, mark the pieces in some why so they can be reconstructed, then carefully cut the whole thing off.

chop the pieces out of the pattern, then on a decent piece of fur draw the shapes on, leaving a good 3 inches.

then it's a simple matter of sewing the whole thing together. do a running stitch about 1/2 an inch from the edge to hold the pieces together and simply either machine of backstitch. fur is VERY forgiving when you're sewing it, so you really shouldn't have any problems.

i'll try to put a photo of the inside of a fursuit up for you to see the effect later...

you can see joins i've trimmed, and one that i havn't. the one i havn't is the effect you're looking to replicate.

Ahhh Matt vest... I made mine from fleece and old decrepid bathmat lolz. Which we hot glued only because it has that waterproof protective thing on the inside.

If you're interested, I could sell you mine if it's in good nick. I don't plan to re-do Matt, so it's not an issue, and I'd only sell it for £10 + p+p

Though I'm a 14-16 5'8" female... so depends on your size too.
