If anyone needs more reference pics for their CLAMP in 3D Land cosplays, there is a group who have done quite a few of the characters. If you search around you can find pics from a lot of good angles for ref help

Just a thought, I know it's a year away and no one really has finalised plans, but can we hold this gathering/shoot on the Sunday? As I'm pretty sure Euro Cosplay is gunna try and be an annual thing and if we do this on Sunday then we don't interfere with anyone wanted to spend Saturday as their potential masquerade entry?

I have no preferance on which day we do this, but I think it's something we would need to discuss with everyone so we can come up with something that suits everyone ^^ I was going to put forward the idea of going into the masq

Frederica_la_Noir: You know you want to do it!

Ah, if it was to be in masquerade I'd only be available Sunday >< But that might just be me. I defo think we should have a CLAMP picnic in these outfits and do a shoot with the box sets as well as series sets <3 Love participating in big groups but never seem to get the pictures D:

Out of interest, because I'm pedantic about these things XD, should we try and collaborate as a group to use the same fabrics/techniques?

Dun think we'd all be able to use the same white fabric...as dresses, jackets and pants generally suit different fabrics...but maybe all use the same fabric for the coloured parts?

I just like talking construction XD Don't take me too seriously XD

If we did this (and I think it would be cool if we could, since it WOULD look a lot better) it would have to be something that is easily gotten hold of and not too expensive.

Would definately add to the costumes, I'm just trying to think of the best way to do the white swirls, as they're all the same sort of thickness and in the photos of the group in the link they've each done it different and some have really large swirls.

I was thinking maybe doing what I did for my Olette flowers and so a zigzag stitch that's just really close together so just seems to be a line of stitching about 0.5cm wide...but that was a nightmare and a half and I dunno the skill levels of the rest of the group so am thinking that's not the best plan ><

The other option I'd conciderred was, dependant on what fabric we used for the colours, as long as it didn't fray could just cut out the shapes and top stitch it to the white, which would then create the swirls without any fancy stitching?

The only person who'd have to do it slightly differently (from a casual glance of the box covers) would be Sumomo (which I dun think we have yet) who has coloured pants with a white cloud design on top.

Anyone else got any ideas?

I've used white bias binding in the past to do detail on a dress for a friend (the white circles on Sakura's dress from Naruto). That worked quite well, and as you buy it in set thicknesses, and it's not overly expensive, and it curves very well, that could be another option?

I did think about that and white bias would be excellent for the bold white trims...but for the curves, to jsut top stitch it on top of the colour, the transition from main white to bias might look a bit off (I may be being picky), to which the solution would be to bias trim the whole of the coloured design...but that becomes expensive, time con-suming and very possibly a little frustrating XD (used way too much bias for Rachel Alucard and Litchi Faye-Ling)

I think normal cotton or cotton drill would work best with the clouds and by using heat & bond it prevents fraying, you can get this at any fabric shop (or should be able to). But combined with a zig zag stitch as street-angel suggested it would give a really nice finish. Not necessary as the heat and bond already prevents fraying, but it'd look nice and would up our construction points

That's just my two cents anyway. I can't imagine what other fabric it could be. Definitely not satin, and that would be HELL to applique anyway. Other fabrics that don't fray are felt, suede, lycra, cotton jersey, etc... But it doesn't look like any of them. It looks like normal cotton to me but maybe that's just me

As for days, I'd much prefer Sunday masquerade too because I wanted to enter something else for Saturday
