oops sorry >.< just expo time we get too excited and suddenly we get a burst of energy and while i was piplup my gf's brother wanted to be pikachu with me and suddenly went a bit loopy and he likes to cause mischief and hug everyone, hes a big softie really

I've had two so far one as Wesker (Resident Evil 4) and one as Seifer (Final Fantasy VIII)

Wesker -

Whilst wandering the halls i heard someone shout

"OH MY GOD WESKER!"

I spun round to see a 40 odd yr old woman run over, glomp me and squeeze me hella tight, she smiled at me and said

"I've hugged Wesker i can die happy!"

she let me go and wandered back over to her husband xD

Seifer -

Whilst me and my GF (dressed as Quistis) were walking around outside the expo a similar thing happened but with a 13/14yr old girl who ran up and glomped me, she just kept saying how she loved seifer and she was physically shaking she was so excited, she demanded a number of hugs, photos and even my facebook xD

I didnt want to be mean so i relented on all accounts, she even came and found me later that day for another hug xD

Fan girls O.o

ah but it was fun! everyone knows pokemon are mischevious. I got hugedd by soemone from naruto who wanted a mew.. are you here naruto person??

anyway i reckon one of my weird experiences was......oh yes! after the mcm expo party which was crud, me and my gf decided to go back so we could go home but we couldnt change cos we didnt have any clothes to get changed into so we had to walk through the excel centre in our cosplays

she was sailor moon and i was kamui gakupo/gackpoid from vocaloid and we didnt realise how many people were walking through them so we were like....uh oh.....in cosplay and theres many people, we are gonna get killed >.< after getting a few glares from people they were wondering why we were dressed up and we lied saying it was japanese rave so it didnt seem as weird and they were like seems about right, there was drunk women giving us dirty looks so i stuck my foot out and tripped them up XD yes cruel but hey shouldnt take the mick out of someone for what they are wearing....in the end we just laughed at whoever looked at us cos their reactions were priceless..........there are just people who cant accept difference

Me and two of my friends went to Kitacon 2010, it was our first convention. My friend went as Deidara (Naruto) and a random kid cosplaying as someone from Ouran High School Host Club came up to us and stared at my friends hand mouth things then started talking to us about latex.

The next day we were sitting down on the floor waiting for an event to start. The same kid came up to us and started mumbling something to us, he then wondered off.

A few mintures later he came back with a furry and tried to make us stroke it. After we stroked it he just sat there mumbling and playing with the furry.



As I said, it was our first convention so I dont know if this is normal behaviour at a convention, but it was kinda weird for me.

Not many bad things have heppened to me apart from horrific costume-breaking hugs from sweaty shirtless men >_<

But on the Friday of May Expo, me and CerysKitty who was dressed as Fuu from Samurai Champloo were harrassed by chavs who thought it was hilarious to shout 'Are you in your pyjamas?!?'

Those chavs that stand outside ExCel are so annoying. =___= Three of them kept on following me and flirting with me at the May Expo (I was wearing Lolita) and so I snapped and yelled 'STOP PESTERING ME!! IMMA LESBIANNNN!!!!!' (No actually, I'm not but I needed them to give up and go XD) so yeah, always gotta watch out for them when heading home from the expo! XD

I can't quite remember when this was but I think it was after London Expo one year. I was in London with k4tt and some friends and I was wearing my lolita outfit with leg warmers/head dress when a girl asked me for a photograph, i think she was a tourist and didn't expect to see anyone in a lolita outfit in town. At first I though "omg" and i felt it was rude to turn her down, so i said ok.

There were some loitering near us, but we weren't in costume or anything fancy at the time so didn't get pestered. I was a tad surprised still though - I was dressed rather "emoey" (black skinny jeans, black and red clothing, fringe sweeped over one eye). I s'pose they had more interesting people to annoy lol

Or maybe cause we made "peace" with them by offering a pringal.

Hmmm... My funny tales have been pretty paltry in comparison.

I guess silly little things I remember happening whilst in cosplay was stuff like when I was doing Blind Dating Sim, and I was interviewing a Yuna cosplayer. Bless her, she kept using the word "lovely", and so because I (in character as Captain Kuro) was being quite a snarky little bugger, I declared I was going to do a drinking game and swig from my drink for every time she'd said "Lovely". She played along and kept using the word to make me drink more, and I essentially downed the whole bottle in one go. I got an applause. I still have no idea why.

In last year's Anime Dub Live, I was cosplaying Street Fighter's Dan, and because my hair wasn't long enough to pull off his ponytail, I was using an extension one. Which then fell off, while we were doing an in-character improvisation. That was funny.

I suppose the only other major one I can think of right now is in my first ever panel I was in charge of, 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Con'. I was cosplaying Ikari Gendou, and I had a fake beard on (now lovingly known as the Pube Beard, especially thanks to Wendy Powell actually calling it that during a panel). It was starting to peel off anyway, so I said during the panel that I was gonna take it off and ripped it off. This itself got some laughs, but then people noticed that not all of the beard had gone, and that I now seemed to have one really long mutton chop on one side of my face. Hilarity ensued.

This last one actually can be found on YouTube, which is always fun to see.

As of right now, I don't have anything to share which falls under the "Amusing Cosplay Anecdotes" heading. Mostly because this year's May Expo will be my first time doing it! *insert nervousness here*

Hopefully, this will change by the end of May; and in a good way. Thankfully, the prop will be somewhere along the Fort Knox of props; given that it'll be a 130+cm long clock sword that, due to a combination of convention rules and (luckily) how it's worn in the cosplay itself, will be quite literally chained to my waist.

Kita 2012; We were sorting out Gyarados as he could only be assembled when we were all present. Because the room wasn't long enough, we had to do it outside in the corridor. Because of his length, it meant that there was no way round having his head right outside another guest's room.

Who opened the door part way through to go down to the gadget show, only to have a Gyarados face right in their face.

They were thoroughly amused (and he got a lot of attention from non-convention guests as well as the con goers!)

I have quite a few fun stories but my favourite will always be when I was Wind Waker Zelda:

I was in Starbucks buying a frappechino (how do you even spell that?) and I felt a tug at my skirt. I turn around and there was a TINY girl pulling on my dress. She asked me if I was a real princess!
I told her I was and told her that I was from a royal kingdom called Hyrule which was VERY far away. She seemed so happy!

I thought I'd already posted to this thread, but I guess not.

Still the funniest thing that happened to me was leaving a Waterstones Recon dressed as Garterbelt from Panty and Stocking, and being stopped by some very posh-sounding lads on a night out. They tried to persuade me to come clubbing with them (on a work night!) and when I declined, they refused to leave until I had blessed them.

They all dropped to their knees, so I put my hand on their heads one by one, and said "you are blessed my son". Then they thanked me and ran off in high spirits.

I have only been to one convention so far (MCM in October last year), but it was a very surreal experience.

Because we went with THIS GUY!

Having to assemble/disassemble his costume going through every single door on the way in, having to herd him around the centre like a giant, yellow, blind sheep and keep him away from all the crazies. Then him getting naked inside the costume... and hearing the echoing voices of a thousand people saying "Oh My God it's the Tower of Pimps!" or, my personal favourite, "A... block of cheese? Hey! There's a giant block of cheese walking around!"

I can't wait for May! I hope some equally surreal things happen because it was a lot of fun!
