Coat Shops for DTB
I am looking to construct a Hei costume as I dont need to do much with my features to look quite like him (infact, a lot of that type of char I seem to just fall into those messy, black haired people; Hei[DTB], Uryu[Bleach], even Gendo Ikari[Evangelion] if I wear a false beard and add some age lines).

However, after collecting all the peices or knowing where to get them, I am still left missing one vital constituant; the long trench coat.

I am on a budget so no tailored stuff and nothing exceeding about £50 but if someone could send me a link to a site or give me shoping tips, I would be greatful. I want to do this properly and I just have the mask looking profesonal, and my uncle is getting the knives just right (he has some sort of varnish/paint that makes things look properly metalic). Im even experimenting with micro motors to produce those ripcord things Hei uses to scale buildings, though Im not holding my breath on that.

So a trench coat or similar (pref black but I could die it) would be helpful.

Thanks

wow, spooky O_o my boyfriend is doing -exactly- the same thing for Oct Expo, down to the experimentation for the wall scaler thing XD

Unfortunately, I don't know where you could buy the coat cheaply- especially as its so specialised, not to mention finding a black coat with a green inside lining would be inherently difficult- I'm the dolt that offered to make his for him, got a monster job on my hands O_o

If I spot anything useful I'll be sure to send a message your way x

Thanks, not that this one has to be black with green lining. As I said, I can die it and creating a lining of green material will be easy. But all the shops around the world seem to think that "Trench Coat" means "Bomber Jacket" and beleive that "Full Length" is "Mid Thigh". Go figure. There are a couple of Gothic websites where you can buy clokes and the like but thay are a) massivly expensive and b) covered in studs. Obviously that is a last resort, along with just going for Uryu (as a white cape and crusader armour isnt hard to make for a Quincy final form).

EDIT

And I have just realised I have been spelling dye as die. Oh well, I guess thats my Freudian slip of the day. Now you see why I want to be a soulless assassin (hmmm, Altiar... No, to sensitive)

hmm...I see what you mean :/

When are you aiming to have this done by? A specific expo or...? I guess you could get it custom made in more time but that would, evidently, be more expensive.

Time is less of an issue. I would like it for 2 years time as I have specific surprise for an event happening then. It might help to add that like many anime fans I am not quite 18 so I am still growing - again making time less of an issue as if i get it to fit now, in a few years it wont. However, I do need a new coat and teh joy of Hei over, lets say Uryu or even someone symplistic like Gendo Ikari or even Ichigo (hair dye can work wonders) is that if you take apart the elements of his costume, you have some pretty cool clothes for everyday use. Regardless of whether M&S think they are in fassion, who hasnt seen a guy in a full length trench coat (even if it is just on the Matrix) and gone "Now that is a look I want to wear!!"

Infact on that subject, look at Hei, now take away the knives, the gloves and give him glases and LOOK! Its Neo!

I honestly don't think you're going to manage to find a full length leather trenchcoat for £50. If you've got a lot of time, why don't you buy a trenchcoat pattern and some faux leather and try making the coat yourself? Take it slowly and it'll come out well, and you can customise whichever bits you want. Patterns are pretty easy to follow if you have basic sewing knowledge. Also, it'll be a learning curve for whenever you want to make something like this again.

If not, have you looked at maybe buying a kingdom hearts organisation 13 coat? A quick search on ebay shows them to come to about £70, which is only £20 more than your limit. You might find a cheaper one with a bit more digging. They've got hoods though, so I don't know whether you'd be able to alter them? :S

Cutting, unstitching, arcwelding, nawing, lasering, burning and demolecularifying a hood wont be much of a problem. Thanks. The first real lead I have got. Didnt expect a full 4 layer leather or felt trench coat for £50. Was sort of looking for a mock coat if that makes sense. Prefer cloth to leather as Heis is cloth (most likly some kevlar/carbon fiber composit for it to be bullet proof) and its matt so it cant be as reflective as leather or pvc. Ill give the coat a look in. Thanks a lot but dont stop throwing ideas at me!
