The Steel Samurai Mask
I am shooting myself in the foot here by attempting to cosplay the Steel Samurai from the Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) series. My only problem is I can't work out how to make the whole mask head. As you can see from the photos it is detachable so I was wondering whether I could use a normal face mask and then attach the fabric around it so that is fits over the head like a glove.

Here are some photos to help:

And a youtube link of the mask on:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You definitely chose an awkward helmet! My only guess would be to have the helmet split open in half vertically where the black hairline joins the silver face.

I certainly did choose a difficult helmet! DX Quite a few people have suggested making the helmet it two parts so it splits so I may well do that now, thanks. I think I'll leave this part of the cosplay til last...

I went through a few ideas for mine ranging from silver lycra to completely being made from craft foam.

In the end I found a plain silver mask from a local party shop and built it up with craft foam on either side before having it velcro at the back.

Its just fiddly building it up without a something to build it on.

Thinking about it i could have made the neck out of more foam but I ended with using the lycra to make a collar
