Need help for my Essay!
Hey everyone!

I'm currently writing an essay for Uni on animation and i need some help as i've had a complete inspirational loss! i thought where else better to ask than CosplayIsland!

I'm doing a comparison essay on the costumes found in animation. so far i've chosen to use the functional and fairly simple costumes of Studio Ghibli films but i need to find another animation (either western or eastern animation) that has completely insane and outrageous outfits that are really difficult to turn into something a human can actually wear.

maybe something that defys gravity or something that transforms in a really insane way?

the only limitation is that it does need to be on a human. so no mecha or animals please! :3

i'd be REALLY greatful if you guys could throw some suggestions at me to check out!

fankachoo!!

There is something in Trinity blood that you can wear but it wouldbe rather hard to. Seths outfit when shes the queen big massive hat!!! Its made.

And also claymore! When they turn into awakened beings they are mad costumes.

that the big huge green one? seen that. not quite what i meant though. XD

the claymore awakened beings are a good one though!! could turn my essay into a "could be made, couldn't be made" type thing. :3

Anything by CLAMP is usually outragrous and impractical. Look at Cardcaptor Sakura for some good examples.

I was also thinking of CLAMP ^_^

The next thing that springs to mind for me would be Yuna's Floral Fallal outfit from Final Fantasy X-2, though that's from a game so I don't know if that would be of any use to you. There are many Final Fantasy costumes which would be pretty impractical.

The Awakened Beings wear clothes?! They've always just looked naked to me XD

Haydee from Gankutsuou has this opera dress that defies gravity - it's been a while since I've seen the episode it's in so I can't be overly specific but it has these bits that just float upwards around her. You'd have a similar problem with Sharon Apple from Macross Plus I think, she has all these wibbly bits around her costumes and in one song ("Idol Talk", I think) she's wearing these thin hoop bracelets that just sort of levitate around her wrists. But I'm not sure if she'd count for your essay - she looks human but is actually a computer generated image.

I'd also say Hexadecimal from Reboot, just because she has insane body proportions (in the sense that her arms taper down to a point at her elbows and I have a feeling her stilettoes are high enough that they'd quickly ruin the feet on anyone who tried to walk in them!) Her faces are interchangeable too, in the way that she just seems to stick one on top of the previous one somehow.
