I know from experiance since I live here that if you wear something like a cosplay here you are bound to draw too much atention to yourself.
If you are going to go i would highly recomend getting changed when you get there. I wouldn't chance getting on the bus in cosplay (sorry i had to edit this. sounded a bit wierd at first) Last edited by yami-no-neko (01 May 2010 - 05:07) |

(ive lived in leedds/wales/nottingham/guildford and never had trouble. So this sounds kind of scary lol __________________ www.zandras.co.uk |

It's just if you are wearing something extravogant, you might get a bit of verbal. Most cosplays wont stick out so you will be fine. XD However I do like the idea of a yorkshire meet. I would like to get to know more cosplayer from our region. Last edited by yami-no-neko (01 May 2010 - 05:06) |

I work at the Adsa near there so I have a good impression on what they are like but like Yami said get changed in to cosplay when you’re at the dome. The dome has changing room so it wouldn’t be a problem. I know we sound negative but I really don’t want you guys getting harassed and get discouraged especially since you guys are really good cosplayers.
On the whole a fantastic idea and good luck with it sadly I’ll be at work so I can’t come or else I would go in a heartbeat. |

I myself will take stuff to change in considering my cosplay will be a rather short gijinka and will need covering up anyway hehe __________________ In the words of pilz-e the squirel- "Run from the burning eyes of the angry lady!" |

But I did wear a few wrestling cosplays to the shows, didn't get any trouble. __________________ IS THIS THE REAL LIFE? IS THIS JUST FANTAS(TIC BAB)Y?? OPPA DIDN'T MEAN IT!!1! ![]() |

It would be cool for everyone living near Donny (like Scunny and Sheff where its like 30-40mins away ish If it was a full afternoon instead of a couple of hours it would be a better opportunity for people to meet up for longer. Plus if the majority of people will be changing when they get there due to hecklers that will cut into the time so technically...wouldn't it be less than 2 hours? If it was an afternoon, I would definitely be there but I can appreciate that some people will be working Saturdays. It's a toughie!! |

Too many trouble causers hang out in and around the dome for me to feel happy about attending an event there. I'd just worry too much about getting beaten up. As those of us who live in the rougher parts of Doncaster know it doesn't take much to set off the yobbos. ;_; __________________ "I'm goin' in for the kill. I'm doin' it with a drill..."

Thank you for sharing it on your form, I am amazed at the amount who are attending and I really apprisiate it. It has been a lot of phone calls and funding problems and THE DOME was the best I could do with my budget as I am a uni student. My names Kathrine and I am at Doncaster Uni and I love manga/anime/cosplaying and Nintendo! I understand you guys consern about venue but you can blame Doncaster college for part of that, exspecting over a thousand pound for a room to hire plus £24 an hour for security. I live in a bad area surrounded by chav's too and my only suggestion is is to pack your costume in your bag and get changed inside. You don't go through the front enterance for the event, it's the back enterance that say's conferance (or somthing like that and has a stair case). Once inside the room is locked and privert from the public. We also have sercurity at provided by The Dome for anyone causing problems. If you see someone messing with equipment or causing trouble, take me to one side and I will deal with the matter. Also the DOME deals with health and safety matters. Your all welcome to come an hour early (3pm) if you want and chat to people and buy things from our sellers at the event. I gave it that time so no one missed out of the competitions. Anyone wanna bring any music/ A.M.V's or anything for our screen they can do as long as it's not porn (LOL!) Think of the children! This is a test and I hope to run one again if all goes well. Thanks for the support guys! |

I will agree with others though it probably could do with being a tad longer but anyway for the first time I'm sure it'll all go perfectly. |

Just to repeat the general advice on here; take your stuff in a bag and get changed at the venue... but once you do, you'll be in my territory!
Don't worry, I don't bite: I just play karaoke a lot. I'll be hosting the karaoke competition on the day. I'm told there'll be prizes (or maybe just one prize - not quite sure yet) but the competition won't last long, so get in early and show everyone what you have. There's never any trouble at my gigs (maybe I've just been lucky) so you can be sure that while you're there, you can relax and enjoy. __________________ Do unto others before they do it unto you... but smile. |
