I'm the opposite to you then. I'm what you see, older but acts younger. But I'm not mentally stuck like that, since I vary between Cosplay photography and Cosplaying. So I can be serious or childish depending on my position.

But thats my personality. I like acting younger with serious there to help situations. Its why I can never go "hmm... 15 year old, they're still a kid". What right do I have to judge if I act the same age or younger at times?

xD Well i dont get on with my age group that much, thats why most my mates are like 18 onwards xD but people do sometimes mistake me for being older
But i've found most cosplayers are very childish! but when theres trouble there age does show xD since they act all grown up its strange once you get used to them being childish

08 May 2010 - 16:5531464
Its very strange. XD I'm glad I've got the mix down. Childish but got it balanced that I can be serious without people going 'hang on, whut? Exactly what personality do you have. O_o'

Then again, when it comes to cosplayers in general... better to come across mainly childish then a group of serious faced cosplayers. They sometimes don't seem to convay the fun side of cosplay or look down on other cosplayers. D: They scary.

Hull WOOHOOOO (sorry I watch too much DOND LOL) I am not from Hull but from the Northwest, sorry for butting in but I had to when I read Hull. Been there once though if that counts? Hope everyone finds loads of nice people in their area

08 May 2010 - 17:3331467
yeah cosplayers who take it like wayy to serious are very scary , and i highly dislike cosplayers who think they own the character and that noone else can cosplay them (It's happend to me before ^^' not the nicest thing to happen), But most cosplayers i mean are very childish and really kind ^^ it's better to be childish but know when your to stop and be serious ( Sorry for any spelling mistakes >.> not something ive ever been good at lol)

I'm a terrible speller. I'm always getting stuff wrong at times and more in grammar and my actual speech. So stupid. ¬¬

I've not been on the reciving end of too serious cosplayers, but I've seen them on sites like Deviantart. Generally, as a cosplayer, I'll help others as much as possible such as if I had a hint for first times or any thoughts that I found useful for a character. But the people that ignore simple questions about their cosplays annoy me.
If I ever saw someone else cosplay a character I do, which is obviously going to happen at cons, I'd just grin, go up to them, and ask for a daft photo to record the moment. No point going all anti-social over the matter since you obviously both like that character and could learn from each other.

Lol, it does bug me alittle when a cosplayer gets the most obvious part of the cosplay wrong but-shrugs- im a terrible cosplayer (Well i think i am xD) so i cant really say much lol

08 May 2010 - 18:2031474
Getting the obvious part and sometimes easy part wrong is just... it'll be on everyones cosplay peeve list. I don't get how it'd be possible. XD

And looking at your cosplays on here, your not a bad cosplayer. How long have you been cosplaying? And, very important question, do you hand make your cosplays?

Ive been cosplaying for uhm since i think start of 2008? not so sure and well i havtn really ever fully made my own cosplays some i just sew my own little things to 'em i think the one ones ive ever made are my kai and ian from beyblade they took me like uhm lets say an hour before leaving for expo. xD but im in the procsess of making shinz ( and hurting myself alot with the needle) ive never been good at sewing and never really been aloud to ^^'

08 May 2010 - 18:4031477
Been cosplaying longer then me. I started December last year, so only half a year now.

Sewing parts to things is fun and useful though. Its the best method of cosplaying, since your making not buying. First cosplay I just got a top and cut it apart. Second I sewed stuff to premade clothes. Third, only had to make a jacket but friend helped me with that.

And needles... pfft. I'm terrible with them. I accidently sat on one before while working on a cosplay a while ago. I've got a friend helping me learn to use sewing machines so I can go faster without hurting myself. They're scary, but at least I can't accidently poke myself or sit on the needle.

xD I normaly just buy my cosplays but i really do wanna start making my cosplays since well I dunno i felt so proud of my ian and kai even if they wearnt good i still made it look like the character so i was proud about them and since they were mostly done the night before expo or on expo day! xD i was happy lol,

and needles are just pure evil! xD
im too scared to even step near a sewing machine! they scare me xD

"whats the point in being adult if you cant be a little childish sometimes?"

and a shiny new penny to whoever knows who said that

in other news, just a heads up to anyone who doesnt know, the date of the next Hull ReCo has been announced - 19th october - be there, or be square!

my plan - Black Waltz from Final Fantasy 9!

Cosplay is about learning as much as having fun.

6months ago, I couldn't use a sewing machine or sew properly. Now I've learnt both in the name of getting bits of fabrics together. *super hero pose*

If you make your own costume, you just get that sense of pride of knowing you did it. When it becomes making the clothing yourself, cosplay becomes a better hobby knowing your doing it all by yourself. ^^

ReCon is just so far away. I know who I'm going as but, man. October? Late or what... and its on a tuesday.

I'm planning to wear Undertaker or Grell from Kuroshitsuji though. Not sure yet, but both require glueing stuff to me so either way I'm going to take ages to get ready. XD

Where around is Recon?

17 May 2010 - 11:4932121
It takes place in the Waterstones near Hull Station. On the top floor generally since it has the largest space (not that doesn't stop the heat getting mad. XD)

o.0 that's really cute and random at teh same time xD lol

18 May 2010 - 17:3632234
Theres no cost to the event either. The money you pay to get in, you can get back on an item. And they give away free Pocky so all's good.

I think I remember that year... I think they just went for the cute vote.

i know it annoyed a lot of people. she was with her mum, who looked really chavvy, and as if she really didnt wanna be there. they didnt speak to anyone, and after the competition, they left. so i think the mum had heard about a costume competition, and decided to go along and enter the kid. :/
