Ponytail wig help
For my Erza (Fairy Tail) cosplay I need to get her hair up into a high ponytail (ref pic: link1).
I looked around for a suitable wig/clip on ponytail but have failed so have settled on the idea of modifying this (link2) wig.
I know I'll have to cut it because wigs don't easily go into high ponytails so I was wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas on how I could do it?

Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you

Tbh that wig looks like it's going to be far too thin to work with.
When you say you were going to cut it, what exactly were you planning on doing with it? I can only assume you mean to stub it and create the tail separate?
That really isn't going to help unless you're working with a good wig to begin with. You'll likely need to buy so many extra wefts that you'd be better off starting with a thick wig.

Wigs can be easily put into high tails, it's just a matter of picking the right wig as a base. I would recommend looking at a wig from cosworx rather than ebay wigs unless you know for definite they're going to be very thick especially around the sides. Once you've picked your wig buy some extra wefted extensions. If you go for a cosworx wig (I would recommend Ivy) then you'll only need 2 or 3 packs as it'll be very thick already.
The extensions are for sewing into the sides as this is where you'll get netting showing as you pull it up.
Once the wefts are sewn in you just need to flip the head upside-down and put it in a tail.

The thick band will help give it support and once you've got it on your head and fitted right you could add a little glue/putty/silicone to the base of the tail if you feel you need the extra support.

If you're set on stubbing then do the same as above except when it's in a tail, cover the base in glue or silicone and cut it off when it's dry. From there you'll need to create a tail separately with a hollow section at the base so it can be attached back on when you're done. You will need to make sure that the wig is going to fit before you stub it or you'll end up with one that doesn't fit and can't be adjusted.

Hopefully that's some help to you which ever method you decide to go for. ^^

since it shows in detail how to do a high ponytail, suggests good base wigs, and gives lots of options. She even covers how to make a ponytail which sticks out from the head like that.

I’d second CosWorx wigs, they’re also a good choice because you can buy the matching extensions at the same time, even pre-wefted for you.
