Son Goku Patterns?
Hey guys, I'm trying to do a Goku cosplay from Dragon Ball and I've not been able to find any decent patterns at all for him, or even any patterns I could adapt.

Here's a reference pic:

I really wanna emulate the indent in the middle of his trousers and it's important I wear it right, so I was thinking of making the trousers elasticated at the top with extra length up there so I could wear them around my stomache rather than my hips/ waist as Goku does, and for all my attempts at drawing a pattern for his shirts, I can never get it to sit right on me.

If anyone could gimme a hand it'd be much appreciated =)

For trousers, you could use this pattern by simplicity

I know you're male, but there isn't actually much difference in the trousers between male and female tbh, just make sure you make it so the legs are a bit too big, cause then you can just take in a bit where you want that effect. I'd recommend tacking it first if you don't want to buy extra material, or actually making it first from spare material so that you can mimic what you want.

This would be good for the top. http://www.simplicitynewlook.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=34&products_id=6614

You'd just need to shorten the length of it as well as the sleeves. You could also use it for the under shirt, just add more material for the neck.

Hope this helps

ooo I made one of these. It's dead simple. Just cut out a giant rectangle and cut out legs. Then sew it all up apart from the arms, feet and neck. Then cut the neck shape and hem where needed. I hope that makes sense xD

I think it's the way the material gathers, the trousers and top are much baggier than would normally fit, and they're gathered in with the belt.
When I made this costume I made the shirt really simply, pretty much a wide square and the trousers a good few sizes up than what'd fit me. then just gathered it all in with the belt. =)
Also if you want that more gathered crotch shape i'd make the crotch on the front and back the same size, just use the exact same shape for all four panels of the legs, usually the crotch lengths on the back and front of trousers differ, but it doesn't look like it does on Goku!
