Blocking
Something i would really love on this site right now is a block button, where every form of contact on the site with the person is broken. Even if they commented on other peoples costumes that the comments wouldnt show up, that would be really great.
I dont know if this has suggested before, sorry if ive brought up a repeat subject.

I too would like a block button. As you will get the odd nasty now and again. Especially trolls and stalkers.

Currently you can block people from sending you PMs as this is built into the standard messaging system.

With costume comments we are hoping to change to self moderation where you will be able to delete comments from your own costumes only. At the moment you need to ask an admin to do this for you.

As for hiding any content by a listed user, this doesn't seem to fit with the community nature of the site.
More importantly that would take a lot of work which Perrin is highly allergic to, so I can't see it happening in our lifetime XD

XD poor Perrin xD
But yeah To be able to Delete comments off your own costumes would be really useful T_T
Hopes to see it done soon

couldn't you just de-friend the person so you don't see their updates when they've commented on something?

I think she meant even if you look at other people's costume comments pages, if that person has said something that comment wouldn't be visible... kinda like wiping that person's existence from one's vision entirely, like one of those "killfile" scripts for blogs so that known trolls' won't show up anywhere at all.

That sounds like more of a forum software issue. Does this version come with that feature that can be enabled? If it doesn't then there little the admin team can do.

If you don't mind me asking, this makes it sound like someone is harassing you. If that's the case then you should send a message to Kat, Perrin or Amy about it. The forum I used to moderate banned people if they harassed other users, and that's pretty standard on all decent forums.

It'd be a dreadful shame if the actions of one or a few jerks drove you away from the site

I do agree with Sillabub on this one. If it is a case of harrasment then it should be reported. Its a shame if you have to leave

if it's who i think it is, they deserve to be banned because i've yet again found out they have been lying to the community about "making" things when they are really just buying them.

If it's a contact issue, then as Amy-Lou suggested you can block people via PMs, and with Sands' suggestion make sure they are not on your friend's list. If you have had a personal falling out with another member our suggestions would be to do the above, and then ignore any pictures that you see of them.

However if it is an issue of harassment or behavior on the site, this is very different. If the person you wish to block has been using their account to cause any distress, please let us know.

You can find direct links to PM any of the CI staff here - http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/about. Amy-Lou, Sean and myself are the best three to get hold of.

GraceyDarling - Please get hold of one of us over PM if you wish to discuss this - we can't help if we don't know what is going on, and obviously we don't want any of our members to feel they have to leave.

Thirding Sillabub here- I really like your costumes Gracey, it'd be a real shame to see you leave the site. I haven't friended you, but I do make a point to check out your costumes from time to time. I hope things get sorted out, whatever the problem is, and that you stay with us

edit: I've added you as a friend now, lol. Why not?

I agree with blocking a user from commenting on your page, and even viewing it, but not with the total erasion all over the site.

Personally, I think a "flag" option should be added, like youtube and dA have. Flagged comments could be reviewed by mods, and they could decide whether the comment is indeed worthy of being flagged as inappropiate. If a user is constantly being flagged with a good reason (they're being offensive, spamming etc" then the user gets banned.

I don't know what to do about people who try to pass off their costumes as their own when they aren't (I've not met said person), but perhaps there could be a "costume flag" option as well, if the person is lying about buying or making their costume. They shouldn't be flagged if they bought their costume but aren't trying to pass it off as their own. It can also be used for the people who put the annoying !its a secret! costume, without updating it at all. It's pointless really. I don't have an issue if it's a guessing game (can you tell from this rubbish camera what I'm doing?!) but not if it's just a bit fat ? TEEHEE ¬___¬

Or you could just ignore the fact that people pass off costumes bought as their own. To be honest I have yet to see someone on here who claims a store-bought outfit is their own. But if its obvious enough to warrent someone clicking a button to say "THIS PERSON IS LYING ABOUT MAKING THEIR OUTFIT WHICH THEY DIDN'T ACTUALLY DO" I think its best to just leave it, because clearly you can gather enough about said person from the fact they're lying than to need a reason to block someone. If they want to pretend that they have done something that they haven't, let them, but people aren't going to be impressed.

Same for the secret costume. I don't see the problem with this. So what if they flag it as secret and don't update it? Its practically the same as putting up a planned costume that never gets updated as well. *is so guilty of this* Again, what's the point of blocking or flagging someone just because they have a 'secret' outfit they don't want to admit? Its not hurting anyone is it?

As for a blocking feature, I think it would be useful just to have to block someone who you don't want commenting or generally bothering you on your account. Mostly to stop trolls and stuff, but also to stop unwanted people posting and just generally being a hassle and shizz. I think with recent events though something is going to need to be (and probably will be) sorted out eventually. Its just a bit of a shame that something like this needs to be included. Especially considering we're supposed to be a nice relaxed and friendly community!
