Wig Help
Okie doky~

I need some help.

See a lot of the cosplays I'm doing this year require wigs. I have a problem though in the fact I've never worn a wig before.

I got one of them in the mail a few weeks ago and tried it on. I can get the wigs on by tying my hair in a bun, but then I look like I have an extra appendange on my head, under my wig.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get a wig on properly, or the best ways to get them on when you have long hair.

Thanks much. :]

Both the tutorial on cosplay island and sarcasm hime have great advice with keeping long hair under wigs! And believe me I suffer the same problem as you haha! It's nice to have long hair but it's -really- annoying when it comes to wigs!

I -kinda- follow the tutorials. What I do is tie my hair in the medium ponytail and flop it on the rest of my head and secure it with a big ol' headband [not hairbands, headbands... the elastic ones] and a load of kirby grips [I think that's what they're called O_o]. Though there's still a tiny lump at the back because of the start of the ponytail it's not as big ^_^ I'm sure the twisting of the hair is a much better way of doing it but I'm too lazy to do that eheh heh xD;;

The issues of long hair. I love it, but its such a pain! X_X

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the tutorial. I think I'll give your way a try too. Hurrah for having three months to try different ways to put on a wig!

Ooh I saw there they wrote about braids - my friend has very long hair and she puts it all in one long braid and kind of... coils it around her head? She doesn't use hairbands, but pins it! So maybe that will help.

Long hair does look beautiful, I envy it! XD

Mine's quite long and very think. I generally tie it in a pony tail and then stuff that in a wig cap. I find I can't wear a wig without a wig cap as I cannot stop my hair falling out of place. They're very cheap and you can get them anywhere that sells wigs.

I honestly can't find a wig cap in any of the local party shops that sell wigs o.o;; However I have found this bald cap thing haha xD... is it possible to just use that joke bald cap thing as a wig cap? Because I really can't find any wig caps and I think I really need one xD;;

I agree with ailsa-chan! I always need to wear a wig cap, and a hairband (like those... alice band style ones? :/) too, because my hair is all different lengths.

POP SOCKS!! Like old lady socks, you can get them from superdrug and so on. They work at a pinch!

Yes, I swear by pop socks! If you don't have a wig cap, they work just as well (and if you've got a smaller head, they accommodate that too).
