Any comissioner?^^
Hello,
i've always been exploring anime/fantasy conventions and i was always amazed by the cosplay So for 2010 i would like to get my very own costume
Because i'm a ''freshman'' regarding costumes and stuff, i'd like to find a professional comissioner who could help me out and realise my costume as good as it's possible ^^

Anyway i'd like go get a costume of a Ringwraith,Lord of the Rings.
Beneath are the reference pictures. We can still talk about the parts of the costume that are possible ofc.
Anyone that could help me out and realize my dream?
Thanks in advance

The fabric part shouldn't be a problem, it looks fairly simple to acheive that look, although I'm guessing you'll need a lot of fabric. The armour parts are what's going to be tricky. There's lots of materials you can use, such as craftfoam & sintra, before you splash out on getting real armour some made by an armourer. Everything depends on how much you want to spend on it and how accurate to the movies you want it. A friend of mine said this about costuming:

I want it cheap
I want it now
I want it perfect

you can only ever have two out of three...

Yes i know that. i'm kinda new in making costumes, so if i'd want to do it, it would fail so much. And regarding the budget, i can spend something around 200 euros, to get an accurate replica of the costume in the movies. I don't know if it's reasonable, so i'm just waiting for prepositions or something.
And regarding the armour, i've done some research and i think i'd first try to get the robe, and then i can still try to find the gauntlets of some materials like you said.
I tried to find people on the net, but i always find american pplz and the shipping costs are insane ...

200 euros won't get you close to an accurate rep. if i was to reproduce my masq winning (3rd place) witchking armour which was made from foam sheeting i'd be asking for around £400, purely because of how annoyingly hard the armour was to make.

the gloves are a nightmare, the vambraces are evil to get right, and the greaves... let's not. making a full Alphonse took less time than making the witchking.

I've done some research and including the armor would cost me ofc way too much. So for the moment i'd just try to get an accurate robe, i know friends who might help me out with the gauntlets, and i'm going to skip the leg armor.
And yes i believe you regarding the witch king armour, that one is such a pain. That's why i'm just trying to get a accurate costume and maybe with some gauntlets for the time being...

Why would you fail? Honestly, believe it or not my first costume was an Elven archer from The Two Towers. It took me & my boyfriend nearly 1 year to make and it's still not right. I had to learn to sew, work leather, I had to make tools for embossing the armour. My partner did a lot of the metal work on it, but a lot of it was researching the ways and means to make the thing we wanted to make. My second costume was Eowyn as Durnhelm, I spent 9 months making it. The leather work is all hand sawn and I had to learn how to do it, I also made the maille hauberk from scratch. Both costumes came in way under 200 euros. But that took a lot of time because I have a small budget and I looked around for ages for the right materials to come with the right price tag.
I'll have a go at making a pattern for you if you like. I don't really want to take on commissions I'm sorry, I'm not good enough to do it and I work full time, so I can't promise I can keep a dead line.

Your Witchking is really impressive! I'd love a pic with you and my Eowyn costume

If you make the costume yourself, it always costs less. But i've tried before, when a friend of mine was going to cosplay some guy from Dragonball Z. I tried to help with the costume, but for somebody who has now tailoring experience at all...
You mean a pattern of the costume?

yeah, I mean a pattern for the robes Unless you can find someone to make it for you. I know Sephirayne does commissions. Try to PM her?
