just wondering what other ppls opinions are abt this question cos my mate asked me and i was stuck between street fighter, tekken and smash bros melee.

Out of your choices, SSBM hands down. Although you know my fav one is Dissidia lol

yeah dissidia is pretty awesome like kinda an rpg/ fighter but the best for me so far is still SSBM like never stopped playin that game for years. Tekken is a close 2nd and i never ever go off a SF game.

Every other fighting game besides Blazblue feels too slow for me now. I need speed to be able to play. Also fighting games work best on two dimensions, plus the attacks are hilarious, the character designs are awesome and the game is really technical. Ideal for nerds like me :3)

Street Fighter 2 Turbo is by far my fave.

For 2D fighters its gotta be GGX2 Reload Guilty gear is the king of the 2d i think fighting games should have an almost dance like rythm quality to them and gg not only boasts amazing graphics, dephth of character and plot but also some catchy tunes *blue water blue sky for the win*

As for 3d its gotta be soul calibur pretty much all the same reasons

Definatly Guilty Gear. The series is so fast paced and brutal, just what a 2D fighter should be. Unforgiving. But there are loads of "fighting" games out there. I may not be a Naruto fan but the Ultimate Ninja series is quite good and Dragonball Tenkaichi 3 on the PS2 is ace. Personally I long for a copy of the old dos robot fighter One Must Fall.

i loved guilty gear and darkstalkers i shouldve threw them out there aswell XD

but one of my all time favs has to be street fighter 3rd strike aswell u just cany beat the parrying system.

The Street Fighter games are definitely a favourite as well.

For me personally, I've always loved the Soulcalibur series.

Well it all depends on whether we are talking about one-on-one fighting games or side-scrolling beat em-up?

One-on-one, I think it has to be the original unadultered Street Fighter 2, although Virtua Fighter 2 is also very good.

Side-scrollers, my choice may be a bit controvertial as well as showing my age, but Target Renegade on the Spectrum 128 kb was pure genius. Streets of Rage 2 (or Bare Knuckle 2 in the US) is a very close second.

With street fighter, my favourites come from the alpha/zero section (especially zero 2)

I think the Tekkens are my overall favourite fighting games though. It's just more complex and substantial.

Soul Calibur isn't bad either, but it doesn't have as much finesse and accuracy as Tekken IMO, too many long range large swooping moves make it less refined gameplay.

Special personal mention has to go to a little known fighting game named 'Evil Zone' on the playstation 1, which is where my username comes from. Such a funny game ;p

I like most fighters, particularly the ones made by Capcom and SNK but saying any fighter other than Street Fighter 2 just seems wrong.

Not sure if I'd put Smash Bros or Power Stone in the same category as Tekkens and Street Fighters, more party games than fighters.
S'pose you do fight in them though.
