Getting something out of cosplaying
Okay this has recently popped into my head after seeing the new Zelda Game for the DS. So heres my action plan which might kill 2 birds with 1 stone anyway i've been thinking and its dawned on me if i cosplayed a character from a game, go into a game store and asked "Hey whats that game that I'M in?" then try to ask if i can have a free copy, also possibly ask if they'd hire me cause of how crazy i am for the game xDDD. this plan will be done once i finish Link

has anyone ever done/considered/attempted said plan? cause if like to know if it was a success or fail xDDD i do know theres one cosplay (on here perhaps) who works in a branded store but im not going to say what store incase ithis thread becomes some sort of case legal thing xP (wheres the fun in this world any more!)

To be honest, I think if you did that the shop assistant/manager would look at you like you were a bit odd.
They might find it funny, but you wouldn't get anything for free.

Unless you were maybe being PAID to dress up as said character to promote a game.

a new gaming shop opened recently in Hull, and on the day it opened, day Fables had a cosplay birthday picnic thing in the centre of town. for it, i had put on Balthier, and we decided to go to the game shop. a lot of people thought i was part of the attraction, and some of the staff were confused (there were a few people dressed us game characters promoting things) as they hadnt hired me.

anyway, to the point, i bought a copy of Final fantasy Dissidia, and at the till, i complained bitterly that i wasnt in the game. it got a lot of lulz from the staff and people around, and they gave me a free bag with some free stuff in...inclusing the dissidia postcards and art prints! a few other people were given bags as well, with random stuff in! never got any money off the game though XD

LOL I don't think it will work, but I'm damn tempted to give it a try. who wouldn't want to walk into a highstreet game shop in cosplay and admire the games your in. I'll want to do it to see the disbelif on everyones faces.

One day we should organise a load of us to go into a video game store in London dressed as characters, not to get anything for free, but just for fun.It would be funny to see the looks on the faces of the gamers and the staff I think

that sounds very similar to the phones4U-raid-with-the-card-board-gundams-plan

Unfortunately I was in tokyo mew mew garb so no one recognised me But one of our Other friends was dressed as Otacon- and We got a photo of her next to an MGS4 Statue! It got us abit of attention but no freebies.

I say go ahead, if not for freebies, but for the experience. Ive done pointless public cosplay before and it really is fun! (if you ignore alll of the absolute tools who live in hull ><

It sounds like fun, but in general, if you go seeking something for free, it'll upset them.

And in all honesty, I think it'll give cosplay a bad name if not done as a joke.
