Hi! I'm a Librarian working in South East London. My new Manga club started a few weeks ago and managed to instantly get funding for a series of events....the teenagers that attend the club want to have a Cosplay workshop. This is proving difficult to organise and I need to get it sorted out and paid for in the next two weeks (though the workshop could be any time this year). Can anyone help by suggesting a workshop leader that I could contact. I would be looking for someone who cosplays regularly, is full of enthusiasm about it, can make costumes with some skill and could present a bit about cosplay to a group of VERY keen 13-17 year olds, then lead them through the process of creating something simple....
Can anyone on this forum provide this kind of thing, or do they know anyone that can? Your help is apprciated!!!!

They could run a powerpoint, or give the people scraps of fabric and some needles and thread and tell them to make something, or take over a local school's home economic's sewing room, or sit down and plan costumes with all the kids... xD
But the person who runs it should come to the workshop in cosplay! Last edited by Yuka (15 Feb 2008 - 13:13) |

Sadly I don't think I could commit to this as my year is going to be fairly busy. However, I can vouch for MangaChild and HelloKitty. I am sure they would do a fantastic job, and both are very enthusiastic about the hobby. I wish you the best of luck with the project! |

Any other comments or suggestions are still welcome though as I haven't yet sorted the event out... By the way - despite the event being on behalf of a club, it will be technically speaking open to all, but especially to young people age 13-19 - pm me if you are potentially interested in attending when its sorted - it will be in Bexleyheath, South East London/North West Kent. |

I'll post the details in a new thread soon, but for now, I'll just say that this introductory event will be free of charge and open to anyone, though the core audience will be 15-18yrs old. It will be an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to have a go at creating some cool cosplay items to do so with a superb workshop leader and in the company of other cosplay and manga/anime fans! You will need to book your place on this event (as we need to know how many are coming). More details to follow soon in a new thread! |

By the way, MangaChild, how is your Bristol event coming along? What kind of venue did you plan on using? |

Im still wracking my brain to think of how to go about doing the event? Be having it open to different level of cosplayers Experienced and Non Experienced im having difficulty thinking of what to do? Much like your self im just wanting more people to experience cosplay and hopefully learn some basic things and take that home with them and their own skills and go on to cosplay on their own. I will work it out tho i Think the simple answer is to host 2 events |
