Norwich Meet-up (AniMedia East & AnimeLeague) Saturday 23rd January 2010
Details: At least one day out in Norwich in which attendees can meet, have lunch, and engage in various activities throughout the day. The Castle Gardens are a good place to sit and chat (provided the weather is good), and if anyone wants to do anything specific, research what goes on in Norwich and post some suggestions. The popular ideas will be considered depending on the time.

Cosplay: Optional only.

Dates: Saturday 23rd January 2010. If anyone wishes to continue into the evening and/or stay over at a hotel, then it's your call. Hotel details can be found on the AniMedia East website.
Times will generally be between 10am and 4:30pm.

Where: Initially, the train station. If anyone is going to be later than the start time, make sure you know someone's mobile number in the group so you can find out where everyone is.

Transport: If you live near to Norwich, then you'll likely already know, but the best method would be to come on the train.

Costs: Your transport costs, and anything you can afford if you want to spend in the shops or visit anywhere that requires an admission fee (again research what's available in Norwich and then post suggestions).

Pencil me in? I can't say for sure yet because my sister's birthday is on 26th and I don't know if she will want to celebrate the weekend before or after. But I'd love to be there if I can!

I am sure I can make it there. However, I am very new to UK and so I have no idea which train station you are talking about. If you (or someone who is organizing this event) could create a definite when/where/what time list, preferably with postcode (because I will be driving) it would help me a lot.

It depends on where you (or anyone else) are coming from.
From the rail station to Castle Meadow...
It's from Norwich Rail (Thorpe) Station which is NR1 - can't seem to find the rest of the post codes on Google but it's on Riverside Road, to Castle Meadow. From the station you go across the bridge up Prince of Wales Road and up to Castle Meadow. You're pretty much there once you come around next to the Castle on the hill.

However, for drivers like yourself you'd need to find parking. The Castle Mall has one (you can follow the road all the way around the Castle Meadow area), and there's one at the Forum, Chapelfield shopping centre, and St. Andrews Hall - all of which are close to the initial meeting point.

Unfortunately, I can't get directions for everyone who is driving though.

~~***~~

I altered the finish time some days ago to approximately 7pm, but of course IF anyone wants to go for a meal and/or to the cinema, everything can be arranged nearer the time if not on the day.

Another couple of places to visit if anyone's interested in history are the Castle and the Anglican Cathedral. The history is primarily local, but in the times I've been there they've had some Egyptian history as well - strange for a LOCAL museum but hey. There are tours that go up on to the battlements and into the dungeons, but I don't know if they do the battlements tour in the winter. Norwich Cathedral (the Anglican - as there is a Roman one as well), has the second tallest spire in England - though it's a little bit of a walk from Castle Meadow.

It's now three weeks to the meet-up.
It'll begin on Castle Meadow in Norwich around 10am.
If you want to come along, reply here or PM, and if possible confirm on the Facebook event page - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=170012365115&ref=mf

There are directions from the train station on there if anyone needs or wants them.
Questions welcome.

Held by AniMedia East and Anime League.
