Hey everyone~ I noticed there wasn't a thread like this so I took the liberty of making one;
This is a thread devoted to Cosplay Photography~
You can post Anything, from any time, From any gallery.
Only things I want to enforce
-Post 1 picture at a time, this way we can analyze a Photograph as opposed to a Gallery, which will slow and spam the thread a bit.
-Feel free to add an opinion/critique to the picture you put up, or one that someone else put up in this thread.
-Avoid bad pictures (example: an out of focus picture with too much unwanted digital noise and a horrid pop up flash effect)
-If you're putting a picture that's not your own, CREDIT!
Who's the brave lad that wants to go first?

And I love the field of focus you have there <3
Countering with my own low angle shot- Cosplayers are Kitsunesqueak (DA) and Yeu (DA) __________________ Cosplay http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikau_photography Photography SAGA http://studiosaga.deviantart.com/ Generation Last edited by Mikau Mikau (10 Oct 2009 - 05:37) |

@ mogwai k : Try fixing the posts, I don't think the pictures showed up >< I'm gonna post a link to the next picture because it's really big and I think deserves to be viewed at its fullest. http://kjphoto.deviantart.com/art/Trigun-Cosmode-26-Shoot-110867174 It's by kjphoto and I think it has a brilliant composition <333 __________________ Cosplay http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikau_photography Photography SAGA http://studiosaga.deviantart.com/ Generation |

It brings the actual characters into focus. I wish I lived in the USA. They have more choice of location than we do here. This is one of my photos taken at Ayacon this year: (Just posting the link at the photo is pretty large) http://evil-hippo.com/flash/FullMetal/FullMetal%20%286%29.JPG Ed is Tab and Al is Xae. I like this photo - but really wish there hadn't been a car park. =__= |

@MikauMikau. Fab photo in the link you've posted. Its a great photo but not a great shot of the cosplays. I do love the composition as a great photograph. The location is stunning and the photograper has caught it well. @Sliver, I love that shot of Xae and Tab. Its a great compostion and a great shot of the cosplays. I think you've chosen a great spot considering its a car park! Heres one. Its Trinity Blood cosplays taken at Aya 09. Photographer is Fez. Cosplayers are; Sonia Leong as Isaak and myself as Abel. I wish they didn't crop out the side of the characters and had a more interesting angle to it.
That being said I love the way the photographer captured the cosplayers, it looks very natural and in the moment. <3 Iiii will now put up one of my personal favorites.
I hope this isn't too big... I think it is. In any case- I simply love this picture. I think one of it's drawbacks is that it's more about the cosplayer than the actual picture, but the photographer really captured it well (chose a really good set of settings) and the angle just makes it look 100 times more dramatic __________________ Cosplay http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikau_photography Photography SAGA http://studiosaga.deviantart.com/ Generation Last edited by Mikau Mikau (11 Oct 2009 - 03:44) |

While I like the overall composition - my own personal dislike for people spitting (comical or otherwise) makes me dislike the subject matter. I think it would look better if it was just sky. I think the tops of the bushes interfers with it.
I think the cosplayer could have gone to a little more effort to hide the elastic keeping the mask in place. On the plus side though: like I said it is a funny picture, and I like the extreme-ness in the photo. The costume is also appears very well done. This following photo (link) was taken of me, for me by a friend as I didn't have any decent photos of this costume without a horrible wig. It was taken on a sunny yet windy day here in Brighton and that water was freakin' cold. I did the post processing (which consisted of adjusting the colours etc.) http://evil-hippo.com/silverstar/image/AerithBeach_17.JPG |

I really dislike spitting as well, but to be fair, the character does that in the game so it is accurate and I think they captured it well! __________________ CosplayIsland Staff Member |

(Btw, we so totally need to raid Brighton beach in cosplay asap purely for the lulz >> Its a really cute photo, I'm a stickler for natural lighting, and the light in the photo is absolutely gorgeous, really suits the scene nicely, and it looks like your mate caught the best part of the broken wave! It might have been a bit better if you had your head up - though I'm sure you were taken a bit by surprise! (Or maybe just how cold it was! O_o The layout suits it as well, sometimes 'wangles' look good (wanky-angles) but the fact that you've got the horizon line makes it look all the more striking! ^^ __________________ I'm going to slash your pillow and tear out all the stuffing with a motorbike made of jelly. |

My only thought is that I think it would of been even better if you were to look up in the shot. That would of made the body angle really awesome againts the angle of the water. But so far, one of my favs. |

This is one of my favorite shots from the shoot, because I love the angle and the background and I think it's very fitting to the game. What I like most about this picture (and this photographer in general) is that she really balances out the values of the photograph and the cosplayer, so it really is both about the photography and the cosplayer! ![]() __________________ Cosplay http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikau_photography Photography SAGA http://studiosaga.deviantart.com/ Generation |
