Cosplay Meet in Derby? (feeler still TBC)
I put a post about this on deviantart if any people know me on there but after hearing about all the cosplay meets in London and other places I couldnt go to I half wondered if people would come to where I live in Derby for one

This is what I posted on DA

I just wanted to see if anyone would be interested I already kinda have support from someone else in my class who thinks it would be cool to do one up here and from what I've seen of the park (providing it doesnt rain) it would be a cool place to hang out. The only problem lies in the walk from the park to town. Now in a way its probs as far as having to walk around London but it'll probs feel longer as for most of the journey you're walking down one long straight road.

I dunno how the day would be planned so if anyone would have suggestions of what they wanted to do they'd have to let me know and I could see if its possible.

Anyway if anyone from the area or anywhere else would be interested let me know and any suggestions of the kinds places you would like to go so I can work around that

I did have an idea of a cosplay picnic in the park if anyone else likes the idea

Well thats all

if you had asked a year ago, the answer would have been an unconditional yes from me. but as it stands now, i have personal reasons on why i never wanna return to Derby.

But as i know the city (and its cosplayers) pretty well, i can maybe offer some advice on what to do and where to do it. your probably best off starting with a gathering around the inner city, probably around the main square where the new art centre thing is. lots of little places around there for photograph opertunities, and its nice to scare the norms sometimes. i remember last year, me and a group of friends walked across that square in full cosplay. a platoon of soldiers were there in full parade, and my friend Cody (dressed as a japanese schoolgirl) skipped past them. their seargent had to tell them to not look at him, though many did. the look on their faces was priceless!
you can maybe pay a visit to Forbidden Planet and Tokyo Otaku as well, as im sure a lot of people would enjoy this
as for the park, it is quite a treck, but its more than worth it! i spent many a happy hour here last year. the whole place is such a beautiful sight, and full of photograph opertunities. very cosplay friendly as well if the weather holds out. i would reccomend this park!

do you actually know the other cosplayers in Derby? if so, then the Hunt sisters will probably be your best bet to help organise things

^^^^^forbidden planet closed earlier this year.

There is other cosplayers in derby, theses a whole bunch of us at the uni who are part of the anime society;
We've done picnics at marketon park in the summer and people are very willing to walk over there.

You would be better waiting till the weather gets warmer and organising it as a 'midlands anime picnic'.
