Thats a scary thought O.O
But yes, i am finally closing the deal to becoming an aurthorised cosplay seller!
From a company of some sort.
Anyway, these costumes are of the highest quality (costumes, wigs, accesories, merc etc.) And at a very competative price!
Im doing some market research and was still wondering how many of you would buy from me?
And yes, if you do live in my area (Colchester) I guess i can personally hand deliver it or give to you at a meet up or something xD
Uhh, hope to hear from you guys!

If this is a company from Hong Kong or Japan that e-mailed you saying you'd been specially selected to sell their products to people in your home country then it's been done to pretty much every cosplayer around LOL

I've had the same guy e-mail me four times offering a deal that sounded very similar.

Glad to hear it ^_^ So where is this shop located? And will you be selling your things online or from the shop?

It will be on the web im afriad.
I am only 16 after all xD
When i've started selling i'll post the online shop website ^-^

11 Oct 2009 - 20:0120842
what have you been looking into, just the deal with the company? You'll also have to look into becoming a registered sole trader in your own right,if you haven't done so- You might already know that anyway, just saying because you could get into trouble if you don't :3

I'd definately be interested in buying if you get this off the ground though ^^

So...what do you actually do? I mean, why would I buy from you rather than the website? Does it make a difference?

I guess it really doesnt matter now.
But no,
I'm making a deal with a supplier in honk kong to sell their stuff in this country.
And no, i didnt not get it from a random spam email.
There is no website for it.
Im buying it from a supplier and selling it on.
Simple.

12 Oct 2009 - 00:1420864
I'm curious... have you actually been sent any of the stock yet to know it's of the "highest quality". Because you can't really claim it is until you've had the actual items in front of you to inspect the materials ect.

You need a lot of cash to set up that kind of business. I'm self employed and I only sell small items at expo, but I've still had to sink several grand into buying stock before I can sell it.

If you're buying the costumes in bulk from a supplier I doubt they'll let you buy one costume at a time. You'll need to either buy a set of costumes in the sizes you think will sell or get customers to pre-order costumes until you get enough to place your order.

The first option involves having a lot of investment money, and the second depends on having a good reputation so that customers trust that a costume from you will be good quality and will come in a reasonable amount of time.

From the previous posts you have here, you have no money (hence the reason why you decided to start selling costumes in the first place) and if you're using Cosplay Island repeatedly as your means of advertising something you're about to do, then you have no previous trusting customers that we can get recommendations from of your honesty and quality.

I suggest you rethink your business plan slighty, unless your supplier works in a completely different way than every other company I have ever used.

@Leonie Heartilly.
Yes i have been sent a sample and it is very good quality!
Not exactly higest no.. but its very good!

@KhaosKreator
I do know how to open a business thank you.
And i already know how to buy and sell thank you very much. And i have a family investor who knows about running businesses helping me THANK YOU.
So don't come in thinking you know everything and just cause im 16 doesnt mean i have no idea.
So don't ever do that again. ok. i have planned ahead and have been told how this will work. Thanks.

Wow, no need to be a jerk about it, dude. All KhaosKreator is trying to do is offer you some advice - they know what they're doing, because they've done it before. And let's be honest; you're giving us minimal details about this whole "selling cosplay" thing, so everyone's bound to question you and wonder what's going on.

12 Oct 2009 - 14:2220900
@Jacobar. Wow! that was a bit rude. KhaosKreator was offering some great advise there and you were so rude in response. You may of had a business background but you haven't thought about customer relations.

Its hard work to run a business. I know as I've had a business a long time a go (selling 'Star Trek' costumes). Theres a lot of captital to put in and a lot of time that needs to be invested before you can even begin to make any profit. Even with me sewing since 1989 I still struggle with getting a great customer base.

Thats why you need to show what it is you intend to sell. Look at all the other posts in this section and you'll notice that everyone has included pics. Most who come to me for chest binders didn't want to purchase one until I did post pics.

You are very rude.

I started my first business at 15, at least then I didn't have the gall to act like I knew everything worked. I'm only 19 now, so don't pull ages into things, I don't care about how old you are. Funny how you brought your age into things when I never even mentioned yours.

I care about my customers getting good quality items. Your entire attitude to anyone that requests information is poor and speaks of bad customer service. People like you make comissioners who are struggling to get by like myself look bad and make it a lot harder for us to get customers.

All you are doing is becoming a middle man- someone who does nothing except post items out to others and makes money off them. Given the choice I would go to someone who actually makes their own products instead of reselling poor quality hong kong products at a higher rate to me.

You say your products are good quality, but you have nothing to back that up. You tell us they're good quality, but how would you know? Do you have any proof that you know about quality fabrics and materials? Maybe you're just lieing to us to get our money.

Don't complain about me calling you a liar, just prove me wrong by making a good business and selling good products. If you complain about my treatment of you, then it will just prove how incompetent you are and that you don't have good products to back up where your mouth is.

I'm tired with dealing with you to be honest, especially as I shouldn't have to in the first place.

The rules of this forum section states:

Commercial adverts:
Please note - this area is for non commercial use only, for our members to sell between themselves. If you run a store catering for costumes or supplies please add yourself to our shop directory. Any commercial adverts will be deleted.

Seeing as you're going to be a "proper seller" and everything, I consider your post to be of a commercial nature. This is about members selling products to each other, not you selling some companies stuff to us. Get your website up and running and put it in the shop section of the site and stop badgering us.

um.... you just blew your customerbase up with that silly tantrum. tab's pretty well established in the community, could have been tapped for buisness promotion and was offering fair and honest advice. you're trying to cut into an expensive market that already has far too many well established outlets in the UK. having that tantrum has pretty much told the community that this guy will be a pain to deal with if things don't go his way in a transaction.

in answer to your original question? if i didn't make my own already, hell no. you're rude and offensive, and have far to many personality complications to be a viable supplier.

Oh god Jake so THIS is why you're "Quitting Cosplay" seriously! Grow. The. Fuck. Up!
This entire idea is STUPID if I want overpriced shit from Japan I'll go to Tokyo Toys or Expo, or hell, even Ebay'd be cheaper!

You want to be this big person within cosplay? Start a shop? Become known? Well news flash: no ones going to like you if you throw their advice back in their faces and kick up a shit storm. You're just going to be 4chan fodder!

You've made a total fool of yourself. Stop arguing with these people. Give up. Quit cosplay. Whatever.
You said that the people of cosplay are twats? No mate, YOU'RE being the twat within this community, not them. ¬_¬

also dude seriously, your other thread saying RATE ME AS A COSPLAYER GAIS LOOK AT MEE

just proves how much of an idiot you are seriously, and you know deep down that the email was one of those spam middle men ones because ive got one too and the sound of your tone is blatenly obvious that its true, you say your 16, big shits and giggles im 17, stop winging and having tantrums and grow the hell up because theres a big world out there and the way you are now its gonna eat you up and spit you out.

This 100%, you're really not helping yourself by being rude and aggressive to anyone who tries to help. Tab knows what he's talking about and was just trying to give you some advice given you were being pretty vague about what exactly you're doing. If you're not willing to be polite to someone simply offering advice I dread to think what your customer service would be like if people weren't happy with the product.

I would personally never buy from a HK seller on a customer basis or as a commissioner without seeing a good amount of feedback from past customers especially considering the seller doesn't have a website, and I certainly wouldn't buy something from a go-between who doesn't even seem sure of the quality of what they're going to be selling.
If I want to buy something from a HK seller I go to ebay where I can at least see some feedback from past customers. There are just too many poor quality HK sellers for cosplayers to take the risk.

you've opened a can of worms that should never have left the shelf my friend.

good for you! so you've got your inland revenue details all sorted, buisness bank account set up and everything?

really? didn't you post a thread not so long ago begging help for ideas "how 2 maek munnies"? why didn't you use your buying/selling skills back then? (i have a timestamped MSN convo about it dated 29/09/09)

Quote Jacobar:

but... you said your family wern't interested in supporting you a couple of months back?!

uhhhh.... tab runs a successful buisness... in your target market.... and has accountancy experience... tab DOES know everything in this field, and since you, as a rival buisness didn't know this fact, i'd say you actually don't have any idea what so ever.

Quote Jacobar:

well, considering your post crying about lack of funds was only a few months back, i'd say you have the most hastily botched together buisness plan the world has ever seen, and whoever told you it will work, are they a clairvoyant? i doubt it. self employment, especially in a niche trade, is ultra high risk, and since the crux of your buisness plan is buying from a hong kong "supplier" which undoubtedly will be selling synthetic material junk which will split/fade/not fit well, like i said before... it's a doomed venture, especially since the outburst.

barring lulztastic responses, i'm done here. like i've said already, i wouldn't trust you to sell sweets in a corner store, you're really obviously too angry.
