Essex/East Anglia Cosplay Picnic sign-up
Provisional info, subject to editing:

Date: 31 August (bank holiday Monday)
Time: 1pm till whenever
Location: Highwoods County Park (preferred, since we might be really noisy) OR Castle Park OR the park behind rail station car park, Colchester.
Meeting point: Colchester rail station (mainline)

What I need if you're coming:

1) Your name - whatever you prefer to be called
2) Contact phone number - PM me!
3) No. of people who will be coming with you - just for a rough idea

If everyone attending can spend a few quid and bring some crisps/drinks with them that'd be brilliant. If we go to Highwoods Country Park of course we can buy stuff from nearby Asda first. XD Hey if the weather's good we can even get disposable barbeques...

Bring whatever else you want - laptops, speakers, cameras etc!

BTW, I have actually never been to a cosplay picnic before. Is anything in particular required and do you have suggestions?

People going
- Pez (Pez)
- kitty_yachiru (Cat)
- Berserk667 (Ben) & maybe friends
- Son Gopaul (Ricky) & 4 or more friends
- Thantybaby (Thant)
- tattikat (Shannon) & maybe one friend
- Jacobar (Jake)

I don't drive so I don't know if it's the best place to park, but the train station itself has a car park and on bank holiday I guess it'll count as off peak so it'll cost £3.50 a day.

OH. If we do end up at the country park, it's free parking there.

Another stupid question but... how far away from Norwich is Colchester? ^^; I'd ask my dad but he's asleep and has to work this morning. I'd love to attend but I don't know if I could because of where I live and if I can get transport. There's also the case that I might get lost cause I have no sense of direction

Colchester is half way between Norwich and London Liverpool Street, and is one hour by train away from Norwich. By car it's roughly 1.5 hours but I'm guessing!

A return train ticket on the day will cost you £19. But if you have a YP railcard it's £12.55. Prices are a little bit cheaper if you book beforehand.

This map should show you the location. I think we'll be going to High Woods Country Park which is about 10 minutes away from the train station. Anyway you can't get lost since we'll be meeting up at the train station first!

Can't resist - "Hey, I can see my house from here!"

That pic's a little out of date (well it does say 2007) Don't worry, there's not much different except for more houses here and there.

BUMPATORZ!

UPDATE: I have just spoken to the rangers at Highwoods Country Park, they said that our picnic should be fine to hold there. So it's all systems go from here - sign up (if you haven't already) if you're coming!

Bumping for great justice!
We're getting quite a few people, which is great! East Anglians UNITE! \o/

Sadly I won't be able to make it.

However, on a brighter note, there are 76 petition signees so far now - KEEP THEM COMING!!!

AND! Kamika-Z - http://www.kamikaz.co.uk - have leaked a little bit of information to myself and my AniMedia East partner Raye about a possible event they might like to hold at some point...here in the east...after they received information from Raye about AniMedia East.
Nothing is set in stone right now, BUT, the same principle stands as is does with trying to bring MCM's Cosplay Roadshow this way. It could happen if the proof of a good fan base in East Anglia is given.

3 questions! *and a shameless bump*

1- does anyone have any food prefrences, like crisps, biscuits... sausage rolls? or drinks?

2- do you want em to bring a blanket or sheet to lay on?

3- when dya think this will end?..i just need to work out train times and such... and is anyone gunna be in earlier that 1?... im thinking of getting in about 11-12ish..maybe ?

I'll bring along loads of snacks and stuff from Asda like chocolates, sausage rolls, etc.

Yeah, if you have a blanket it helps, cause there won't be enough room for everyone on one sheet! XD

Well, I can turn up at any time as I'm so near, but everyone can come and go whenever they want. If there's train times and such it's understandable, but other than that I don't think we're on a tight schedule are we?

If you have a blanket/sheet please bring it, I don't have one. ^^" I'll be going to the pound shop so I'll get plastic cups and plates there. Will get snacks too.

I can meet you at any time as well! Why don't you either say what time you'll arrive here or PM me and Son Gopaul? I think on the day before I'll sms everyone anyway to confirm they're coming and at around what time.

btw, I just checked the train timetable and it's not nice for Monday, there's going to be a rail replacement bus. So rather than one hour like I told you before, it'll take about 1:40, with two changes:

Norwich to Ipswich by train
Ipswich to Manningtree by train
Manningtree to Colchester by replacement bus

Sorry. But I hope you can still make it! We just need to make sure you leave more time to get home.

Great! In any case I'll sms you on Sunday just to confirm. Would be funny if one of us stands there at the train station for an hour waiting for the other to appear! XD

Speaking of which, will everyone be arriving in costume? I'll be in a white/silver outfit with blue cape, but I live closeby so I don't mind going to the meeting point dressed like that XDDDD but if anyone wants to change after arriving... I suppose the toilets at Asda will have to do? ^^"

24 Aug 2009 - 16:3318721
I might.... not sure if i'll make it...
Umm, we'll just see...

24 Aug 2009 - 17:4118727
