Hey all! This year at conventions we're running with a few new ideas with cosplay, one of them being a 'Showcase Gallery'. The idea of this is to display images that we only generally see online for everyone to see, and allow people to show off their previously worn costumes.

We've got lots of lovely photos already sent in, a huge thank you to those who have submitted. However, to really make it impressive and show the rest of the convention what us cosplayers are made of, we need more! So here's the begging part - please read the guidelines below and send in your photos!

The first Showcase Gallery will be held at Ayacon (hence the deadline!) but you do not have to be attending the event to join.

1. All entries are to be emailed to with the subject 'Cosplay Showcase'.
2. You may only submit 3 photographs of yourself alone or in a small group. That means you can send in 3 different costumes if you want.
3. You need to include your:
- Cosplay Island Username
- Character Name
- Series Name
4. The deadline for sending in your photos is the 7th August - one week left!

Only self-created costumes, or are you looking for any and all?

Any and all - this isn't a competition, it's just a gallery

Commissioned, bought, borrowed or ...any other methods of procuring costumes are completely accepted!

What do we do over ownership of the images? I have a lot of things from other people who have taken my picture.

Is it worth me giving you the photographer's name as well.

I have a couple to send but wanted to be sure about that before I did.

Most photographers now watermark their photos, which is fine. If the have given you permission to use the photo already, you will be able to use it in this without any problem - there are no prizes/payment/etc.

If the photographer has specifically asked you to credit them when the photo is used (or you wish to do so out of courtesy) then please include the photographer name, we'll add this to the information displayed

Lol, I missed this yesterday - seeing as I'm the one selecting the photos to be printed, I might just accidentally delete the ones you sent through with me in it

Thanks a lot hon I'd imagine this is one of the very few hobbies where being a poser isn't really frowned upon

That is true. Being a poser is actually a good thing for cosplay. Lol!

Also - I realise I was being right numpty in this post. The deadline for submissions is the 9th August - on Sunday - as originally posted in the news. It's really been one of those weeks, deadlines everywhere, and I'm getting confused myself So you have two more days!

(When I had quite a few people email today saying 'I hope I've got in before the deadline' I started to wonder....sorry for any confusion!)
