Hey I know Anime Reactor was gone for a year,. but it was back now!! I was considering going I go to it sometimes, and I was just wondering if anyone else was going to be there. It is in Chicago, IL and I think its Sep. 18-20th. I hope to see some people there, and maybe we already know one another!

Since most of the members on here are from the UK, there probably won't be many people here planning to go to this one, unfortunately!

Is there any particular reason it is mainly people from the UK? Is it more intended for people from the UK?

It was originally intended to be primarily for those from the UK, hence it's cosplayisland.co.uk rather than .com! Still, our international members are growing in number!

Can't speak for the intentions of the site creators/maintainers (that would be Kat and Perrin), but I think because the British anime and cosplay scene is so small compared to the rest of the world it's really easy for us to get drowned out on the other big sites like Coscom or Cure. It's nice to have a place where you can talk about conventions that you'll actually be likely to go to, talk to people you'll actually be able to meet in person, or ask for help or advice and get responses that'll be practical to put into effect (one problem I've had with online tutorials is that they tend to be written by Americans and thus suggest using materials that aren't easily available in the UK - being able to ask people on here where they get their stuff or what alternatives they use is a big plus, and I doubt I'd find out what I needed to know quite so easily on Coscom).

Sillabub is spot on. Anyone is welcome, but you may have noticed we only report on and list UK events. The site name is taken from the UK being the island where we cosplay

It's great to talk to cosplayers from other countries, but I generally find I can't get hold of the materials they're suggesting anyway (without immense shipping costs) and I'm unlikely to go to an event overseas where I'll get to meet them in person. It's good to have somewhere you can chat to people in the same situation who'll be attending the same events or live nearby.
