Steampunk supplies?

I've been considering making my first steampunk cosplay, but I'm a perfectionist and I want to make it really nice with actual metal cogs and gears and such. Basically, I can't find anything, not on eBay or anything, I don't have a lot of money either :/

Basically my question is this:

Does anyone know of any good suppliers of things for steampunk cosplays? Metal cogs, gears, wheels... that sort of thing, anything that could work in the overall ensemble?

Preferably brass/bronze/silver as opposed to gold, if possible ^^

odd that you havent found anything on ebay, cogs/watchparts tend to cost alot! a pipe tobacco tin of watch parts cost me like 5 pounds. it all depends on what your doing. my advice is to go to charity shops and try to find mechanical clogs to pull apart.

again it all depends on what your planning?

Well the only thing I found on eBay are all Lego and Mechano pieces ^^;;
Whereabouts did you find the tin of watch parts?

Oooh! There's a weird cobbler/repair shop closing down near me, selling everything for dirt cheap! If it hasn't already closed I might have some luck there, will have to look

Oh yeah and I don't have a design yet, I'm not great with the actual design aspect of stuff ^^; hopefully I'll have one soon though

I would sugguest actually going to somewhere like B&Q. You can probarly find what you want quite cheaply.

But I'm not really a Steampunk expert

no problem and hey good luck I very much look forward to as much steampunk on here as we can

Maplins sell a pack of cogs and gears, which are a bit bigger than watch parts. They're plastic, but you can probably get them looking reasonably like metal with a decent spray paint.

Keep searching ebay, because what's availble in terms of cogs changes on a regular basis. I couldn't find any for a week and then there were loads. A 30g tin cost me about £10 including postage.

You can get some really good steam-punk accessories on etsy.com, eg.

Not just cogs, though

Not entirely sure yet I know I'm probably going to use some of them in place of buttons and things ^^ mainly decoration than anything, my design isn't finalised yet, only got the torso design done XD
I'll probably post the picture when I draw it up, that way it might give you a better idea of what I'm looking for ^^
