Starting the 20th July I will be taking on full time commission work. Before I was just doing the odd commission here and there and designing steampunk items for the Khaotic Emporium which some of you may have visited at May London Expo. However now I have resigned from my full time job, giving me enough time to open up cosplay commissions as well as ones steampunk items.

I can do most items and costumes, but below is a list of the things that I specialise in.



Here is a selection of hats that I have made



I can make hats in any size and practically any shape. Give me a reference picture or explain to me what you want and I’ll tell you the different options for making it and the different prices available.



I make custom steel boned corsets. I prefer to make interesting styles which aren’t just under and over busts. Here are two examples of my creative work:





The perfect shoes for a costume can be really hard to get a hold of. I make cosplay shoes using the base of a regular pair which fits you comfortably and make them into replicas of the shoes you need. Below are some shoes I have made using that technique:






I like working with leather because it is a beautiful material. Obviously the cost for leather items is higher than items made with synthetic materials, but the difference in quality is well worth it.




My Ivy costume was made from real Italian leather which is butter soft to touch and a dream to wear.



I enjoy building props with working parts and electronics. I can use EL wire and motors to bring basic weapons to life. In some circumstances I can also make smoke producing weapons, but that depends a lot on the weapon design as the smoke making components need to be adapted inside. Recently I have begun doing prosthetic work in my costumes. I can be commissioned to make custom prosthetics which can really make a costume stand out.



I also sell packs of prosaide and prosaide remover which is what I use to glue all my prosthetics on. It works in the same way as spirit gum though it is so strong it requires the remover to get it off. It’s also an alternative to body tape to keep costumes from revealing too much. A pack including a 50ml bottle of prosaide and a 50ml remover is £9 with £2 shipping within the UK.



Some times the hardest part of a costume can be making the pattern for them. You can buy patterns but some costumes are so unlike regular clothing that it’s impossible to find one. Also, I find that store bought patterns are stupidly over complex and hard to read, making adjustments a lot harder than they could be.

I make all my own costume patterns from scratch and I am happy to draft patterns for other people. I would make a simple, easy to use pattern that would be drawn on fabric (which means you don’t have to use crummy tissue paper which rips) and include easy instructions in the form of photos.

Depending on the complexity of the pattern and the amount of customisation to your body shape I will adjust my service to your needs. Some costumes would require entire mock ups of the garment which would be tried on by you to be adjusted to fit exactly. Other patterns may be easier and just be made against a set of your measurements.




For those people requiring full costumes I am willing to be hired out as your own personal costume maker for the duration of a costume build. This however is for intense costumes like full amour building or large prosthetic work. Though please be aware that many costume competitions deny entry to bought costumes, so you would not be allowed to enter a costume made by me into events such as London MCM Expo.




Prices are custom for each commission. My costs comprise of the materials used and my labour per each hour I work on a commission. A deposit for the materials must be put down before I begin the work to cover the costs of me purchasing it. This is non refundable unless the commission is cancelled by me (ie. I cannot complete the work due to a freak illness). In this circumstance all money would be refunded back to you as soon as possible.

I require full payment for the item to be made before I will send it out. Payments can be made once the commission is finished, or in the case of larger work payments can be made in installments which have been pre-agreed previously.

For commission work I cannot take returns if you change your mind about an item as it is custom made for you.

Also to add to the list of things I can do- I am now offering minature steam generators, either built into a prop or on its own.

I built a basic one for Alisa-Chan and I shall be using them myself for Ayacon. These are crowd safe and will not set of smoke alarms and run using a special smoke fluid which means the smoke generated is room temperature. Prices start at £45. I'll get pictures up as soon as possible.

Will you be having a table again at Oct Expo?

Yes I will! I've got a dealers table at Ayacon too. I've found some of the nicest pocket watches ever for it.

I kind like doing the table because it gives people a chance to see what I can design and just buy if they like it. Comissioning your own personal items can actually be a lot of work, especially if you don't know where to start design wise.

I'll be making more mini hats this time, specifically ones that are the correct size for dolfies (and possible to perch on humans as well).

Oh that's so awesome Alisa! The main problem with steam generators is that people want to see how well they work. I have a webcam but it's a bit rubbish.

I'd be very interested in seeing pics of these, but more importantly - what's the smallest you can make one?

The only ones I can find online are either stupidly expensive or really large - I'm looking for something no bigger than about 8cm in all dimensions. (To be honest I haven't looked up the technology of it, I'm aware something tiny may not be possible!)

The fabric is completely up to you. Pretty much if I can buy it, it can be made into a corset. I flatline fabrics to coutil (a specialist corset fabric which has No stretch at all) so you can even have stretch fabrics if you like the pattern on them. I just make sure they don't stretch anymore XD.

As you live close to me it's a lot easier too. It means I can take the measurements myself which helps a lot when making something.



They are hella tiny. The main thing that designates size on them actually is the battery. It needs a 9V battery which is about 5cm high. Pretty much I can either build you a long one or a short one. The long cases will be 8x3x2cm and the other ones would be 5x3x3cm. The little chimney the smoke comes out of is less than 1cm wide and 3cm high.

The only design issues with these is that you can't tip it upside down as the smoke fluid will pour out the top, and the chimney can get warm. It's not too bad as it means when you're installing the smoker all you have to do is make sure that the sides of the hole you've made in your item do not touch the side and just attach it using the case.

Here's the link to the steam generator video. It's not amazing quality, but you can pretty much see what happens. Unfortunately, it really made me jump when it when off so there's a jerk in the video!

Could you tell me roughly what sort of price range you work within?

For instance, how much would it cost for one of those steam generators? I was thinking of maybe trying to fit one or two into a pair of steampunk goggles I plan on making. Or something to that effect XD my design isn't finished yet

Oh my goodness, this looks amazing! I meant to ask you at Expo when you were there with all your lovely hats, could you make a miniature stovepipe hat (very tall Abraham Lincoln-style top hat)? Have been wanting one for ages, but haven't been able to find anywhere to do one.

What sort of thing do you usually charge for hat commissions?

I wouldn't trust them in goggles as the pipe has to be kept upright so the fluid doesn't spill out. Goggles get moved up and down on the face to different angles so I can see them being tipped up.

If however you think you can work around that they start at £45. However you need to keep an eye on the £45 steam generators so they don't run out of fluid. Them being on goggles would make them harder to see. I can however build generators with a tank for the fluid at the base of the pipe. These can last for an entire day non-stop so would be more suitable. I need to construct a tank for them though so they are obviously more expensive.



Hat comissions vary quite a lot depending on the actual size of the hat. PM me with what kind of circumference and height you're looking for along with the fabric type and any adornments. It's easier to just get you a quote for what you actually want than to give a general estimate of how much I usually charge. Especially as it sounds like a very special little hat.

Ooooh Id be really interested in a corset! I always have problems with normal corsets being too short in the body and looking crap xD

What sort of price are they? I love the long tail one!

Maggie Pie's corset (the one above) is worth £250. It took 26 hours to make it. A lot of that was the custom pattern making because it's such a unique design. It uses coutil as it's strength layer, it's fashion layer is cotton velvet and it is edged with handmade raw silk bias binding. It's steel boned with heavy duty 13mm spiral steel to allow better movement and uses heavy duty grommets, not eyelettes.

The problem with corsets is that as I provide a custom service. Every corset I make is individual and made for a specific person in mind. Therefore the cost of them varies significantly for each one. If you're interested please talk to me about exactly the sort of corset you'd be looking to have made and I can tell you how much that one would be.

Oh oh oh ! That would be perfect for me!! I don't know how familiar you are with Avatar the Last Airbender - but I want to cosplay Azula at some point- would be EPIC if there was a way to have a tiny one that fit into my palms that would let off blue steam so it looked like her blue fire ....

would that be possibility at all ?

You can't have the steam in different colours unfortunately. Also due to the design of the generators the chimneys that the smoke comes out of can't be tipped on their side as the oil will drip out.

However it may be possible for me to make a light up blue plastic flame that will sit in your hand.
