Cosplay in a Week?
Is it possible to make a cheap cosplay within a week?
I doubt it, but oh well. I've left it a little late.
Still. I might be able to make it!

Hah, I have a friend who made up a L cosplay on the morning of a convention (woke up and went to primark).

It depends on what other stuff you need to do. If you have a week with no other commitments it'd be fairly easy (as long as there's no large props with long drying times). If not, go for something simpler.

You'll probably have difficulties getting a decent wig this late though.

mein gott en himmel!!! A week is totaly do-able when i started cospaly most of them didnt take a day, my slap-dash ichigo and rip van winkle took about an hour "well rip wasnt really cosplay just clothes* so depending on what you want to do its very conceivable to make a cosplay in a week, what do you have in mind?

cosplay in a week are possible but only if you follow some simple rules.

1. try and use your normal hair - most decent wigs will not arrive in a week, unless of course you already have a wig lying around!

2. Keep it simple - there are loads of simple yet great costumes that can be done quickly and cheaply, just remember to spec out exactly what fabric etc you need to buy, when you only have a week running to the fabric store for last minute supplies can really be a pita!

3. Don't be a perfectionist - Don't stress about how perfectly accurate is it, it will just ruin your fun!

4. Plan plan plan - with so little time effective time planning is a good idea. Work out which is the most complicated part and do that first. Work out which parts are dependent on others being made first and make sure you stick to that order. It will help make the most of your time!!

And I do talk from personal experience here! my Polka was done in 6 evenings. I'm also working on briar rose which hopefully will take no more than 8 hours!!

Most importantly, remember to still have fin and not stress too much!!

There is always room for cake

Ooooh also consider costumes that just require you to buy clothing to wear, have you considered Death Note or something along those lines A final fantasy 7 Turk can be done on the quick also remember that there is no shame in buying and putting together outfits *TO PRIMARK AND CHARITY SHOPS* I think thats how most people start off specially if you dont really have alot of base skill.

hope this helps.

I started my expo costume last friday, should finish tomorrow night!

theres no reason why all costumes should be two month epics.

Yes, I made Maya Fey within a week, without a sewing machine.

My Yachiru Kusajishi (bleach) costume was made within 4days, the two shirts were made one day each and the trousers were done in a day and abit

the problem is getting sandals and socks off the internet and also getting a decent wig..

If you can, get all the bits you need together first before you start sewing. That way once you start, you don't loose the flow. Obviously the longer you've been doing it, the faster you can work but try something simple but impressive, like a long dress with a simple shape. My Cheryl dress has taken me a couple of days with hand sewing and I've pretty much just sewn the fabric onto a strapless bra! No tailoring or shaping, it doesn't even need lining if you don't have time. Take a look at some art book dresses or something for characters you already have the wig for, or if its a Manga, look for some cover art such as from Jump.

I made Ballroom Jareth in a week. And that was sacrificing a full week and doing absolutely nothing else. (Hand sewing everything)

Of course it helps if you have some of the stuff already made anyway as well as a sewing machine would help.

But something simple should be good enough to do in a week and wont be as stressful to do hopefully lol

One week is plenty of time!

My Steiner cosplay was made in a week because I decided to hate my first attempt at the very last minute, that was stressful though X_x;

My Tomoyo cosplay was made in 2 days, Misa in 30mins and Rinoa in about 2 days as well. Heck a LOT of my cosplays were made in a very short amount of time and I'm a fairly busy person with full time education, volunteering with my family's business, school work, instrumental lessons/practise and dance. I work slow and procrastinate LOADS as well which doesn't help BUT that just proves it's doable XD

if i didnt have to waot for wig ect to arrive of the internet then my deunan cosplay was finished in about 10 hours..... and my van cosplay took me and hour and a half lol.......

i know someone who is making a halo marine cosplay in just under a week...... so its def possable...

Oh i am ninja, he is ninja, we are ninja to.

Wow! I shouldn't have worried! I guess it's only the really complicated costumes I would struggle with. Right?

Now... Who to cosplay...

Thanks for all the help and support!

Definitely possible

I made my first costume in a few days, which was rag doll Sally - and I also made Tifa Lockhart in a few days (although not the same few days! )

Good luck =^_^=

Shoot for the moon.
If you miss you'll be among the stars.

If it helps, I am ABOUT to make a costume in 2 days xD Felix from Golden Sun. The undershirt, and mask, and sword and sheath is done, but I still have all the actual other clothing parts to do T_T and that's along with finishing my other costume.

Thank you all for your help!

But it turns out I can't cosplay anyway...

I don't have enough money.

But I'll cosplay in October! Hopefully on both days if I can!

22 May 2009 - 20:0314793
It's not up on here (should be soon though) but put it this way, it took me three days handsewing to make a Rinoa costume AND it was my first totally self-made costume. It can be done if you can make your mind focus long enough, it's not hard though and I know this because I have an awful, AWFUL attention span.

I'm sorry to hear you weren't able to cosplay though.

All of my cosplays were made in under a week (not combined time!), not by me, by my Nan, she is super at that stuff, so yeah it's doable, just not by me.... lol
