So, what exactly goes on in there?
Hey, my first post here.
Basically, I'm going to the London Expo in October with some buddies, including YamatoMoku, and I've seen pictures, watched the videos.
But the real question in my mind is the general set-up of the whole place, so I want to hear first hand from you guys, how the place is set-up what goes on and what you can do etc once you get there, maybe more specifically the London Expo, if that's not too much to ask?
Thank you and please. XD

INSIDE there:

- Stalls and stalls of traders selling anime and video game merchandise eg plushies, figures, trading cards, pocky, cosplay accessories, keyrings, gashapon, doujinshi, artbooks, manga, anime dvds, t-shirts, wallscrolls, posters, character hats, etc. One stall sells replica weapons from wood and metal but you've got to have ID.

- Companies set up stands at the Expo. This year Koei are having a stall with game pods so you can play the latest releases. Other companies like Neo magazine, Tokyopop, Viz, ADV Manga and MVM are present and they sell their own anime/manga with special promotions like buy 2 get 1 free. Some of the companies run a competiton where you get a raffle ticket for making a purchase etc.

- Two noteworthy stalls are the Gundam Mad and the Gundam Nation stands. They are 2 different companies but the gundam models do vary and prices are either higher or lower at each stall depending on what Gundam model it is. The Gundam Mad stall are nicer though

- Expo themselves give away free goodie bags to people in the fasttack queue, usually they're all gone within an hour or two of giving out. Inside these bags are lots of flyers, the Expo con book, pens, little gashapons, stickers, posters, etc. Once they gave away an anime DVD inside eacb bag.

OUTSIDE there (outside the Expo hall but within the premises of the building/steps outside the building):

- cosplayers meeting up

- cosplayers/people chilling

- photoshoots

- organised events such as the Guiness world records for most video game cosplayers gathered in one place

- fan-organised events such as a dance/tea party/etc at a given time and location

Hope that helps.

And the Masquerade, at the end of each day theres a big cosplay competition on the main stage.

Not to mention a selection of TV and film personalities and usualy an anime VA doing signings and taking part in panals and talks.

Yeah but they have to die. Also they might be trying to steal from you.

Anyway, most of the anime distributors show trailers at their stalls and the are usually a few games pods set up too. On the stages there will panels with the guests and the one with the distributors is a great place to get the latest news.

With some of these people you don't get a choice! Imagine a cross between a hug and a rugby tackle!
