It's been a while since I saw it, but weren't the villagers turning into stone (petrifaction), not bone (ossification)?

It is a horrible condition though. Apparently they're testing an antibiotic called Squalamine on FOP sufferers - it's the stuff that prevents unwanted bones from forming in sharks.

Oh I know, but it's about as close as you can get! I think FMA might have been influenced by cases of reported human petrification in the 18th Century, which we now know to be FOP.

It's scary that there's no cure for it yet.. I hope the shark cartilage treatment works!

You know people knock research scientists all the times for cures you know ^.^ even the people who do cancer research but when you think of how advenced our medical systems getting it really makes you feel safe ^.^ I really hope they find a cure for it.
