Please advise me on which lens to purchase.
Time to buy new lens for my Canon EOS 400D. I only have the 18-55mm kit lens with it and now I'm ready to branch out.

My budget is £150, preferably less but if the lens is totally worth it then I am willing to possibly negotiate with my budget.

I would like lens that offer good images in low light conditions without flash and also create nice bokeh when the subject is stood a couple of metres away from the background. It's not only for cosplay photography because I also take photos at a restaurant during daytime/evening so I need something that can bring out a person amongst the background.

I can purchase an official Canon 50mm f1.8 II EF lens for £70, so far this is what I am leaning towards but I am open to other better suggestions if there are any.

i have an 18-135mm on my nikon D80 with a basic hoya UV filter, and it serves me for just about everything i do now, and all i did throughout uni.

i've never felt the need for another lens xD

Looks good, though I have a Canon so it wouldn't have exactly the same specs and performance. I am sure the Canon equivilent would be great anyway.

I'll take these lens into consideration Thank you!
