I spent so long on you boots! And then... Arg, cosplays you work hard on that don't even last the whole day annoy the sh*t out of me.

get home. sit down to make spear. relaise i do not have enough foamboard.

10 Jun 2009 - 18:4815641
i'm having to use a sewing machine with one hand on the pedal and one hand holding/guiding the fabric... (due to operation this is the only way i can use machine at the moment) this was a bad idea though - as i'm sewing away, thinking everything is fine. stupidly not checking, and well.. i'd sewn a bunch of the underneath fabric to the front. GRR. unpicking was NOT fun.

I hate having free time and so much motivation to cosplay. Only problem is I lack material/funds to do any!

It's always one and not the other =[ When I get my material I wont want to do anything with it XD
Typical eh? Or is that just me :/

Oh no no, you're definitely not alone.

I get on these major cosplay kicks (just coming off one now, in fact) where all I'll want to do is plan costumes, look at wigs, buy fabric and patterns and all of that. But then when I've actually got the fabric and everything I need I'll find it hard to get motivated enough to do anything. And that's why I end up making last-minute fixes in hotel rooms...!

ARRRGGGHHHH! I forgottern how much I hate Paper Mache. Thats problem why I stopped doing it ages ago. It takes so long to dry. I love to work quite quickly as my engery levels can be very chaotic. So I like to get as much done as I possibly can when I have engery.

Safer Seph's rings are taking sooo long and they look like I've hardly started *sulk*.

At least I got somewhere with Raphael while I'm waiting for them to dry.

I know exactly how you feel, Sephirayne. When I was making Freya's spear with papier mache, I kept thinking "hell, this isn't as thick as I wanted it to be! >_<"
Then I realised I could've just gotten some leftover foam onto it....*whistle*

And now for my rant.

WHY MUST COSPLAY BE SO EXPENSIVE???!!!! I am feeling so guilty spending my birthday money that I really should be saving for better things on cosplay supplies! T-T

Maybe I should start doing lottery scratch cards, just in case I win like a thousand pounds or something. That'd be nice...

I feel your pain my dear, I have wished many a time that I could pluck money off trees for cosplay hehe.

Also...Blargh. With a side of Blargh. I cannot afford to make any costumes, as I have used up what little cash I had. >.<

And, and...why does it have to be so hard to make a translucent diamond? I have no idea how to cast the resin to make it so I can put led's in it....And its not even for my cosplay. Its a prototype for something else entirely. ;-;

So full of hate for the sleeves of this damn costume right now. I had many rageful sessions patterning them out for the mockup, and now I'm making the actual jacket and THEY DON'T FIT DAMN THEM TO HELLCON IN A BUCKET *fume*

I've pinned the little sods into submission but I'm using shiny lycra so now there's little puncture marks all over it and I don't have enough fabric for a redo D: D: D:

Sleeves are the most horrible part of every costume I've ever done. The day I learn to do good sleeves is the day my cosplays get ten million times better ><;

10000% agree.

I HATE SLEEVES SO MUCH. They're the BANE of my cosplay life. SRSLY. Even Mika's which were only connected at the bottom were PURE HELL. I SPENT A DAY ON EACH ONE! X.X

Next year it's sleeveless costumes all the way. XP

This sounds like an excellent plan!

More sleeve hate here. They're awful things, especially since my dinky little sewing machine can't handle them so I have to do them by hand (and they never hold, no matter how many times I stitch around them).

I'm loving that Medusa and Viola don't involve making sleeves. I'm hating that Ginrei and Crona do (and with the plan I have for Crona, it's going to be an especially tricky pair of sleeves...). Argh!

Last week I was reading this thinking "lol, I like sleeves, they're nice and simple, just a tube. <3"

And so, of course, the two shirts I've done this week... I'm going to have to hand sew the corner of where the sleeves attach on three, and one I had to completely resew. *headdesk* It tore horribly, and I was so proud of how neatly I'd managed them.

The material was so expensive too. About £15 for two metres and some thread.

Ouch, fluffy

I looked at my Ginrei reference pic the other day and noticed she doesn't actually have sleeves after all! Woo! But this isn't the place for that ^_^

Right now I'm cutting out pattern pieces. I hate this bit >_<

Papiermache....dry......sand......grout....dry......sand.....paint......dry......sand
Repeat X??????????????????????

The amount of sanding, painting and grouting I've done with Rose's coronet and the horn pieces that attach on to it! Ugh! So many hours! And I've barely started on the armour. *Wants to cry.*

Yes, I've been using tiling grout to smooth out some parts of the papiermache etc. It works. Cake it on the specific areas you want, let it dry, then sand it down.
Whoops! I gave away a method - it's probably already been used, but hey....never mind. It works a treat, it's just so long-winded getting EVERYTHING as smooth as possible.

Yeap, know t5he method. Will be doing it on my Safer Seph. That is if I get time to do it. The papier mache is taking sooo long to dry.

Then again I did discover it was done to getting the mix wrong. It should be one part water to 3 parts PVA. Ooops! Oh well. I hope I have better luck on the wings.

Not being able to find the fabric you got in mind from during the planning stages. Guess what I have isnt too bad *hoping for the best for completion of AgAkito* and always getting nervous when buying fabrics doesnt help either.

Being on a roll then you notice all the thread used for a particular cosplay is all used up while working and its too late to buy more Also, I need more fabric to do the front of jacket. If it werent for all this then it might have taken me less than half a day to finish the jacket *shock horror* (not including the zippers and buckles and all).

...and the hood. The front needs fixing as it doesnt seem to curve as well as planned and the seams at the back-forhead seem to go to a side a little

You think those are hard? xD

Try making real style suit sleeves complete with shoulder pads and lining said sleeves with seams that are INSIDE OUT ;_____;

I know your pain. The problem with my sleeves was that I deviated from the pattern because the shoulders needed to flare. I haven't even tried lining mine yet. That particular nightmare is still to come... *wince* Have you finished yours?

STUPID ZIP IS STUCK.

Excuse the caps lock, but I am this close to tears. I can't budge it even slightly and putting another one in is going to be next to impossible.

Plus my legs look like crap.

Hate hate hate.

How is it stuck? >< Have you tried putting some oil on it or anything like that?

10 Jul 2009 - 05:5117024
Goodness knows what it's stuck on, but it will not budge, forwards or back. I haven't tried oiling, does that work?
