The Cosplay Hate thread.
This is a place to post when something has gone wrong, and you just need to rant about it. It's not really a help thread, just a nice place to shout anger at. A bit like the reasons to be unhappy thread, but more about cosplay and rage.

Let me start off.

OH MY GOD I HAVE BROKEN A SOLDERING IRON IN A DAY.

HOW

WHY????

I was going on, soldering away for the first time, happily set up several switches and some EL wire, and then suddenly BAM iron starts working crap.

I'm gonna go to Maplins and buy one tomorrow. But still, Guh.

Eurgh Tab that SUUUUUCKS D:

Currently not working on anything due to UNI WORK OF DOOM But I will be starting on my Raven from Teen Titans and my Yami Marik wig soon which can go wrong in so many ways.

So thanks for making this thread! There will be much rantage to be had!

Meh, having to start again isn't fun ¬_¬

And Tab... I feel your pain...

At the moment I'm attempting to fletch 17 arrows... Not going well, they look uneven and wrinkly ;_;

I really hope this cosplay looks sort of OK... >_<

i'm just frustrated at myself that my room is stupidly messy but because i'm so one-track-minded iu can't tidy it up until i've got this cosplay all done.

so i'm living in a pit right now. XD

I sympathise entirely. I'm a naturally messy person, and I also have an impressive talent for tidying up and putting things in "safe places" that are so safe that even I can't find them again when I want them. So when I'm in full cosplay mode, my living room inevitably looks like a bomb went off in a fabric shop.

Just to make things worse, I actually hate messy environments and find them uncomfortable and distracting to work in!

Whilst I say this im completely dissolving into a depressed mass.

I wanted to make a sol-badguy cosplay I bought red material when i wasnt in complete control of my faculties *depressed/tired* and i bought something that was too stretchy. I began making and already i saw the material was just to bad to be using it with it pulled apart no matter what the strength of sew i used on the machine.

The really sad thing is now I whenever i think of remaking sol I just quiver and decide not to

I totally know that feeling. I often remark that my living room looks like fabric land just threw up it in!

LoL. Thats's so true..probably for all of us is my guess!

My "Nooooo" moment was during the recent 4 day costume construction. I did all the sewing and needed to just dye the trousers from blue to black. How hard can that be..I mean black covers everything, right? Well the cheapo cold Dye didn't work... streaky purple! and I left it alllllll night soaking too. :S

Luckily a second attempt using the washing machine (warm wash) type dye worked. Even though I was worried it was gonna ruin our new washing machine...
(Note to self: Dyeing isn't as simple as you think - avoid it if you can.)

My issue is that I live at home with my mother and sister. I have, officially, a quarter of the dining room table and a corner for my sewing stuff.

Any material I haven't touched, my mum orders me to throw in the garage. I have to have bags suspended on my sewing box, because GOD FORBID I leave them on the floor. UNDER THE TABLE. WHERE NO ONE CAN TRIP ON THEM! Else they get thrown out.

I kid you not. I have lost a lot of fabric because of my mother's insane cleaning habits. Funny that she only see's the need to do this in my sewing corner or my bedroom.

Why not use your bedroom, I hear you ask?

That is an accident waiting to happen. I would probably end up killing myself. Plus, I don't have a table so have to use a chair to put my machine on. Which shakes the whole house when I sew, according to my mother.

Unfortunately, I can't win. ¬___¬ So I make do with what I have and seethe quietly.
Or take full advantage of the weekends when NO ONE is in the house except me.

I'm working on a helmet so the whole house smells or resin, all my stuffs constantly covered in fibreglass and little things seem to be going wrong! Also...

I've been trying to work on this helmet for the last week but time just hasn't let me do it! seeing friends etc, now i'm having to do a load of college work but i'm really in the right mind for cosplay.

Anyone else get this? when you're really in the mindset for making cosplay but things just KEEP going wrong, or somehow something comes up and you just can't get round to doing it?

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!

My first five cosplays were all completely handsewn... Ouran Host Club Jacket was not my brightest move. It was the 46 inch hems and seams on Seifer's coat that caused finger death.

21 Apr 2009 - 15:1813140

mums boyfriend who is a *!?!*** destroyed my whole sanzang costume..this is why i do work 200 miles away at my uni home.

Errr...

Tangeled wigs, It's just 'wear and tear' really, I feel it ruins a cosplay, Personally it just makes the cosplay look sloppy to me.

21 Apr 2009 - 19:0813157
Looking for a wig right now and I have no idea how to go about it or really how to style it.

I find this slightly amusing because my friend (an itachi cosplayer) works at a maplins.

I have a huge list of stuff due to Kitacon.
My cousin was gonna help making a petticoat but her sewing machine broke. I then spent 2 hours handsewing it only for it to not fluff up how i wanted.
Part's of my costumes I weren't happy with (my ANBU one) so I attempted to make my own gloves and failed. Lulu Rose offered to help and make me some but my bad luck spread to her sewing machine. She did give a good suggestion however and I was thankful for my Orochimaru costume for having sleeves that're seperate.
Being unable to find certain costume pieces.
Leaving my Tobi wig at home because I hoped to use my own hair, only for it to be too long to be styled. (<3 to Rose for helping to style it)
The the lid of the solution for my contacts broke and leaked in a bag.
The second time I put my contacts in my eye stung like hell and I ran around in a panick thinking I had done something wrong and I was going blind.
one of my orochimaru sleeves somehow got a hole in it.
The ANBU arm gaurds I was making messed up.
Nearly walking into a post whilst wearing my Tobi mask.
Tripping over during the masquerade.
My knee high ANBU sandels didn't fit, so I ended up selling them.
Leaving certain cosplay items at home like Reno's wig, Link's trousers (meaning mum couldn't cosplay lol) And some trousers for my Hunter costume.
My Shinku dress thinks it's a pikachu and gives out so much static, which is one of the reasons I didn't wear it. (And no, I didn't lend it to Vincent to help him style his hair for Vegeta.)
And I kinda forgot to pack pajama's ¬_¬;

There were a couple of others but those are the only ones I can remember.

Wow I wish I could be as angry as you guys O__O

A few days ago I would have really wanted to rant on about my Fran costume not getting done because I was ill and all kinds of crazy stuff like that but one doesn't complain when one won something for it, so it must have come out alright in the end.

My most recent RWAR!!! moment was because I have low blood pressure so was faint from getting out the bath, and then to walk into my bedroom which was full of fumes from varnish, laquer, enamel, and bonding glue whilst I was ill anyway I actually was vommitting and being sick until 2am of the morning I was supposed to be setting out for KitaCon. The same morning I got up at 4.30am. As you can imagine... I wasn't the most alive of people that day ><

I have the same problem, all my fabric and bits are there for all my expo cosplays but I have a load of deadlines really, really close and all I want to do is sew rarther than work.

Annoyed right now because I need to be revising and not desperately needing and wanting to wash my lovely Ciel dress that got dye stains all over it from the wig, needing to untangle the wig, wanting to make a Grell costume seeing as my prescription glasses are Grell's glasses anyway, needing to glue back on all the tassels and balls and bits back onto my Anthy after they all broke off at Kitacon and were hot glued back into place....just argh.

I did not buy enough blue velvet. This is most unlike me.

Also, allergic to fibre shedding, so have been sneezing lots recently. This sucks when you are tring to sew.
