What Cosplay-type are you?, A celebration of cosplay pigeon-holing
Pray tell, there are often aspects of cosplay that are associated with an individual, be it due to the fact that he/she cosplays a many versions of the same character, cosplays from a certain series/production house, cosplays certain colour schemes more than others, furs or other materials that he/she may use over others etc.

So are cosplay factors that you are often neatly (or not so neatly) pigeon-holed into?

I at one point, was often associated with obscure character cosplay and also, due to my apparent youthfulness, I was often attributed with 14 to 17 year old cosplay.

I think I might be an obscure-character type. Or possibly a lesser-cosplayed-characters-from-otherwise-popular-series type (Sephiria, Ririn, Lamiroir). Although I have done a few costumes over the years that break those rules, so I don't know...

I have a thing for Final Fantasy VIII, in particular Rinoa... getting through all versions of her character lol

Other than that just general magical girls/anime/game characters really.

LOL shota!!!!! XD Not that I'm complaining though... since you cosplayed Johnny of Shadow Hearts FTNW!!!! <--- am a fangirl of him

In my case, I tend to cosplay videogame characters more than anime because I find the character designs in games more appealing to me. Also I tend to avoid picking "overdone" characters, unless my love for the character overpowered my "logical reasoning" ^^;

Character's whose side of face is obscured - whether it's hair or whatever! I have chubby cheeks so I hate showing them off -_-;; Luckily characters a heck of a lot of characters have styles like this ! I prefer characters with at least shoulder length hair as well~

Really though I just cosplay characters I like, I don't think they have a reoccurring theme O_o;

Scratch that - just noticed all the characters are young! ... No wait, I forgot about that darn Steiner... never mind >_>;

Personally I have a reputation for huge boobs. Whether they're real or not is not what people remember about me.

As a group we seem to be known as the "Soul Calibur Group"... which while awesome because we're known to do it well, kinda sucks because we're team Uber-nerd. Not Team-Calibur.

Tab

Obscure non-anime things like Wrestlers, TV shows & movies, mostly guys.

I have been cosplaying a few females though lately, which has been fun^^

Massive slags and/or bitches, or Johnny Depp, it seems O_o

The female character thing, I think, is because they are so utterly unlike how I am in real life - I'm a very mild person who doesn't like too much attention, so it's fun to be someone totally different from time to time.

Alas, Shota-boys... T_T

I mean, I've technically only cosplayed 2 characters who are below the age of 16, but I suppose its more the character personality-type then specifically looks-wise. I mean, more often than not as soon as we're watching a new series and my mates and I all say "If we cosplayed from it what would I be?" I'm always told, "You would be <insert character here> because he's a shota-boy!"

I don't mind it at all, though sometimes it is a little frustrating to be put into that sort of thing... though I guess it doesn't help that I tend to like the outfits characters like that wear... like the shorts and stuff ^^; ah well.

I crossplay as boys....a LOT! XD;; *sweatdrop* I hadn't really even thought about it till recently...but this Aya I will be using mostly female cosplays for a change (all are somewhat genki-types!)

I tend to cosplay as characters that I really LIKE, personlity-wise etc. rather than judging by their outfits, and that usually ends up being genki/miscievous boys or somewhat Tsundere guys....*swoon* Gotta love the moe!

Red and green.

According to various sources all the costumes on my completed list have either red or green in them.
I have a thing for green, thats no secret (I like green. Its my favourite colour) but red... is a surprise even for me! XD

I have been threatened that went I upload photos of characters who do NOT fit into this sequence, they will be shopped until they do. x3

I have been somewhat stereotyped for doing primarily white costumes, also for doing priestly costumes. Mostly by the person who started this thread. =-p
There is a fair size element of truth to it, I do like white and think it suits me, but I can and do do other things!

Weekly Jump.
Which I'm REALLY trying to get out of the habit of doing... I love the series in there to bits, but they rarely ever have interesting or challenging costumes.
It's frustrated me to the point of DELIBERATLEY not choosing Jump series to cosplay from this year so I can let myself make something cool~

Oh. That and Gintama.

Mainly Male cosplays I'm know for, possbly known for my Jareth since I've cosplayed him the most and done 3 of his outfits so far. XD And still planning on doing the others!

I also dont seem to do alot of anime ones and just do games and movies. Also finally getting round to do FF ones and doing one of my dream cosplays, Kuja <3 Whom I'm also hoping to do a few versions of.

I think I'm a "neck-up awesome, neck-down fail" cosplayer.

I always try to pick characters that suit me as best I can... and then botch the actual costume making...

Oh, and I like being able to cultivate my facial hair accordingly =D

20 Apr 2009 - 01:2513045
Teenage boys with varying combinations of black hair, bowl cuts and/or glasses...

Interestingly enough I fit none of these normally XD it's an interesting pigeon-hole that seems to have developed.

20 Apr 2009 - 01:2813046
I cosplay a looooot of boys for big events.

I have a current trend of belly tops. My skimpiest cosplays are boys... that odd? XD

Character-wise I quite like to do the relatively random characters that aren't always thought of for cosplay, like my Kingdom Hearts 2 Seifer. That and characters that I really like, like Marik ^_^

Oooo! So manly. *high-fives*

Anyhoo. I tend to go for male sliver/white haired bish characters. With armour on the outfit somewhere. I'll also be adding wings as at least 3 of my future cosplays will have wings.

In Nov I'll be so totally going against type as I'll be bring out my FX make-up training to age myself to play a very manly character, Horatio Caine for a CSI/NCIS group. Not sure if I will upload him to here as hes going to be a make-up based cosplay rather than an cosplay based cosplay.

Evil, tall, horrible scary people with the weirdest hair and eyebrows.

I have scary eyes and jowels, so I can't cosplay bishies ;_;

I tend to cosplay characters from popular shojo manga/funny romantic anime.

That's how I roll.

20 Apr 2009 - 08:5513053
I suppose im the Anti-Hero ^.^ I have a real love for the underdog *vash/alucard or ichigo* with a general lean to things that are unusual *lust/rip\*

My only real tendency is to go for the the central protagonist. Most of the characters I've done aren't over the age of 20 either (I really can't remember how old Rock is and the Ice Climbers are chibi).

Claus is the oldest character I've done being 29 he's also the only one that isn't the protagonist either. He's a main party member though.

I just go for what I like really (as well as what I can actually produce).
