League of Legends Lulu dress!
Hello hello!

So I'm starting to make my Lulu outfit for Sheffield's Film & Comic Con!
Does anyone have any templates for dresses like this?

It's just the red part of the dress I'm making probably with a zip down the middle.

Hi there,

It reminds me of a pinafore dress pattern that my mother has from the 60's. If you can find a vintage pattern (I found the below one on Etsy) & just flare out the skirt that might work for you.

I also searched for "A-Line dress pattern" & found these.

Dont know if this will help or not but good luck & have fun with it.

I'm making the winter skin so have thought about getting this kind of shape. To go with your pattern, get some lightweight triflex hooping from vena cava designs (Google them) and that'll get you that nice shape, you can make a duplicate of the bottom half of the dress and put the hooping in the hem of that, with the actual dress over the top, use some medium weight interfacing in the dress and it'll hold its shape nicely. Hope that helps!

I used this for my Dorothy dress from the Big O which you can see in my costumes list on my profile, again similar sort of shape but you'll need to fudge the pattern a bit cos you want a single seam down the centre. You can do this by making a mock up and just cutting it strait down the middle after sewing the panels together.

Here's how my Lulu skirt is looking - I haven't done a second layer skirt like I've suggested in my post above because I have fur trim going on the hem that will hide the ridged look from the hoop, so I didn't bother. There is actually a second hoop underneath though, about midway up, and some tulle. It's heavy weight interfacing I've used because my local store didn't have any medium weight. I didn't use a pattern for this - I made the hoop roughly the size I wanted, measured the circumference and halved it, figured out how far down I wanted it to go, measured round my waist and halved that. I then measured out a trapezoid with the half-circumference at the bottom, half-waist measurement at the top and the length I wanted from the centre of the half-circumference to the centre of the half-waist. Doing this again for both ends of the half-waist gives you a curved bottom to the trapezoid like this:
