flak vest help pleeeeeeease! *THANKYOU*
Hello all!

trying to get my flak vest sorted for mcm manchester.

i've spent months gathering ref pix for this and its been a nightmare, i've finally managed to do a quick sketch at work this lunchtime of what i THINK it looks like.

i'll be honest, at this stage i don't think i could make it easily, so was wondering if anyone could suggest a type of flak vest that i could buy and then alter?

many thanks,

lora

If you're looking to modify a vest, how accurate do you want to end result to be? If you want it to be exactly like that picture you might have to replace 90% of the vest anyway, so there's not be much difference between making it or modifying it.

you make a good point. and im really torn. i think eventually i'd like it as spot on as possible, but perhaps until my skill level is up, i'll try to modify one to be as close to this as possible. the main detail i want to make sure is on are the 3 panels on the front and the 2 side straps and the disc details on the collar which i can make separately and add to another flak vest.

ultimately i'd love a super accurate one!

I've asked my partner, who's way more into military kit, and he can't think of a vest that'd easilly modify into it unfortunately Any front-opening flak vest would at least let you get the side details modified on correctly I suppose, but you'd still lack the collar... I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but personally I'd make it from scratch as all you're getting out of an existing vest really is the plain back and front.

thanks so much again for the advice, got some tough decisions to make! i'm scared about timing as well, i've got the big stuff on the go and im sure i'll get them done (the arm and shin pads, gloves, CZN M22 assault rifle, wig, under layer)...the main thing at the moment is that the gun is accurate and it will be when its done. hopefully i can get a vest sorted though because i don't want to have to compromise too much!

i'm dead nervous as well as i've just had my e-mail saying im in the masquerade at manc mcm on the saturday, and i'll be wearing this. jesus christ!
